curmudgeon...
The longest running TV show in the World is a British comedy

Steven L....
"Meet the Press," NBC's news interview program, which first premiered on
TV in November 1947. This is its 59th season.

that goes by the name of *The Last of the Summer Wine*
This first aired in 1973 and is still going strong.
All the more impressive when you consider all the major players in this show
are over the age of 50.
Most started their debut in this show as a 50 something character and are
now in their 80's and still going strong.
This is something that is "Impossible" for Hollywood to emulate mores the
pity.

Incorrect. The longest running TV show is a little animated show
called "Saze-San" from Japan that's been running since 1969. Over 3000
episodes and still going. What's really amazing is when you realize

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
You're both wrong - depending on how you count it, either "Meet the
Press", "Guiding Light", "Coronation Street", "Dr. Who" (this one's more
of an asterisk) or "60 Minutes" have all run longer.

the Voice Actors are still the same people that started with the show.

As you say the desire for something new means that Hollywood can't
emulate since when the people in charge change they feel a need to
change things which often means getting rid of older programs even if
they are still doing well in the ratings.

Jude Cormier...
And considering most Britcoms only do 6 episodes a year--whoopie!
