I'm almost done downloading season 5.
Should I go out, buy, and watch the seasons 3/4 DVDs before watching
the season 5 off-air recordings? Or can I understand season 5 without
seeing the previous years?

You shouldnt watch anything that happened after SD6 was busted, I
myself regret my decision to stick with Alias when it's becoming
obvious that the quality had plummeted and the writers did know what
they were doing, heck, the scar left by Alias even influences my
opinion on the future of Lost.

"Alias" is seralized. You shouldn't watch season 5 without seeing
season 3 & 4 first.

P.S. I thought maybe Alias was like Buffy (each season is a
stand-alone story).

Thanks. When I go to Meijer's today, I'll see if I can get Alias on
the cheap.

You would be better off watching season 3 & 4, and then skipping entirely
season 5.
Even the series ending was completely unsatisfactory.

IMO, you're better off getting and watching the s3/4 DVDs before
watching s5. I think Sloane's arc, including his multiple changes of
alignment, his relationship with Nadia and his obsession with
Rambaldi, will play *much* better watching the whole thing in
sequence.

Yeah, I have to agree. I started watching the repeats on TNT and it's in
the middle of season four and I only saw the second half of season five (not
to mention not all of season one and two). I'm very confused about Sloane
flipping back and forth, but I'm waiting to buy all the seasons on DVD.
Hopefully they'll have a special if you buy all the seasons at once.
Too bad TNT isn't going to show season five yet. But I'll wait to catch up.

Don't buy them. Rent them.
