24 - compare the years

I just saw the first season and was impressed. It's extremely
well-written. How many shows can keep you hooked for 24 episodes?
Which of the other seasons do you think were the best?

Having just rewatch 3, I think the whole thing was boring, from
start-to-finish. I would say:

Season 2 == the best overall (includes not just action but also
character development)
Season 4 == so-so... it's all action... not much depth
Season 5 == ditto

And skip the rest.

Many seem to think year 5 was the best.

Myself, they all seem to flow together in my mind. But year 5 was very
exciting. I think the 2 day premier of 2 episodes each day sets up the
year and gets it rolling much more so than if they just did the 4
episocdes over 4 weeks. To me it's like the Superbowl of the TV season.
