Bill O'Reilly's Publicity Stunt

O'Reilly claims he will debate viewers on-air. Fox News gets to pick
who goes on the show, and there's no doubt they'll only choose those
who don't stand a chance against O'Reilly. And just in case someone
gets the upper hand, Fox can always do their *lower microphone volume
than O'Reilly* trick to make sure the opposing viewpoint isn't heard as
well as O'Reilly's.

O'Reilly Challenges Viewers to Debate Him

NEW YORK - Love him or not, viewers will have the chance to debate Bill
O'Reilly on his Fox News Channel talk show, "The O'Reilly Factor," next
month.

O'Reilly has announced the Great Factor Debate Contest, in which six
winners will face off with the outspoken TV commentator on a topic of
their choice.

"You want a piece of me?" O'Reilly said Monday. "Would you like to sit
on this set right here and let me have it? Of course you would. Well,
now that can happen."

He warned viewers to "be careful what you wish for."

I would love to go on national TV and kick that punk's ass -- in a
moderated debate where each side is given turns to speak and complete
thoughts -- uninterrupted. Something that will never happen with a
coward like Bill.

I can't recall a single instance where a major liberal journalist dared
to do that. Not Dan Rather, not Eric Sevareid, not anybody. Can you
cite any examples of left-wing journalists willing to debate ordinary
citizens on a one-on-one basis?
