I was wondering just how many US TV shows were takin from BBC shows?

Strt with "All in the Family" and "The Office" and I think Friends?

David Brewer...
Friends I doubt.

I was going to add "Steptoe and Son" and "The Fall and Rise of
Reginald Perrin" but I think they may have been ITV shows.

Down with the Snorkelsons?

Donna B...
Dancing with the Stars has a final credit that's a BBC credit.

Rhino...
The American "Three's Company" was definitely a knockoff of a British show -
I'm not sure if it was BBC or not - because I remember seeing the pilots of
both. The scripts seemed to be word-for-word identical! I don't recall the
title of the British version - it might even have been "Three's Company" -
but I recall the star had been a major character in the later seasons of
Doctor In the House. I think his name was Richard something but I can't

David Brewer...
"Man About the House".

Barry Margolin...
An interesting thing about this is that both the British and American
versions spawned nearly identical spin-offs, about Jack moving out of
the threesome house to live with his girlfriend.

"Men Behaving Badly" got a non-smoking non-drinking makeover
(briefly). That one started on ITV and went to Auntie. "Cracker"
became a reduced tar American show. That one was from Granada... I
hope people realise that there is more than one channel in the UK.

I have only heard (in the US) of BBC-1, BBC-2,.....

Some of us do. I suspect most Americans think that every British
show originated on the BBC, and that every Canadian show originates
on CBC.

recall for sure.
