"World War Three"
4-7-06 Dr. Who

5 stars (sticks and stones)

0-1 stars (deuterium and lithium)

Major ChrisB...
3.5 stars. I've already seen all the episode (in the uk....and have the
dvds) and this is the worst episode of the season (well all the Slitheen
episodes suck)

dont worry is gets great in 2 or 3 episodes...

The Ice Warrior Reborn...
I honestly don't know why people don't like this episode. As a devoted
fan of the classic series, I thought this episode was very good. I give
it 4 stars.

Tony Calguire...
I agree; this two-parter has had just the right mix of fun and
seriousness. The aliens did look a bit like Staypuff Marshmellow men,
but the CGI versions were very cool, and made up for the corny-looking
costume versions.

I also don't understand why so many people dump on Ricky-- er, Mickey.
I think he acquitted himself quite nicely this episode-- hell, he saved
the world, didn't he? And he and the Doctor seemed to come to an
understanding.

I must say, however, that I'm finding the Doctor's infatuation with
Rose, and the wedge he's driving between her and her mother, to be
extremely creepy. It's very much out of character with previous
Doctors; I'm thinking specifically of Baker's indifference toward Sarah
Jane and Leela, which crumbles into sadness only after they've
departed. And didn't Davison make an exhasperated speech of frustration

Major ChrisB...
The Previous Doctors had something to go back to, had people on Gallifrey
who were old friends. This Doctor has no one. He's the last of his kind
and must hold on to someone....

over the messes that Adric, Teegan and Nyssa caused? In this day and
age, and older gentleman who charms a vulnerable young woman away from
her family with promises of excitement and adventure is kinda
disturbing. They had to pick this day and age to make the Doctor
enthusiastic about companions!

doctor...
Doctor making an easy getaway??

Remembmer Rembrance ofthe Daleks of Destiny of the Daleks?

Michael Bowker...
I'm gonna go 3.5 like the resolution and the motive for the family
slithereen.

doctor...
TO be honest Micky being hero save this whole thing. 2.6

doctor...
Even DW:TVM is better than AoL/WWIII .

Gio...
3.25 stars

doctor...
You are gracious.

Unit is still in business.

Benjamin Elliott...
Actually, if you pay attention to the details in the timeline, Rose occurs
in early March 2005 and Aliens Of London/World War Three occurs in early
*March 2006*, which was just a tiny bit in the future when these episodes
were made, and last month to us. Among other things, Mickey is unlikely to
have had a PC with Windows XP in 1991.

Tim Bruening...
I kept hearing the year referred to as "1991".

doctor...
1991 was the year 10 Downing Street got that room reinforced.

No, it doesn't. They mentioned 1991 as when the steel
shielding was installed on the cabinet room, or when the
UN was given control of the missile codes, or something
like that. But the episode itself takes place in the present.

doctor...
The cabinet room. Not the date of the epidose.

Benjamin Elliott
I found the AoL/WWIII two-parter among the worst episodes of the
season, it will get better after this though. Still not 'top of the
notch', but better.
