3 stars go in for 'Nip/Tuck'

Larry Hagman and Kathleen Turner have been tapped to do multiepisode
arcs on FX's "Nip/Tuck." Meanwhile, Brooke Shields has signed on to
guest star on the hit drama, from Warner Bros. TV and Shephard/Robin
Prods. One of the story lines on the show's upcoming fourth season
will revolve around a beautiful thirtysomething woman (Sanaa Lathan)
and her wealthy, much older husband (Hagman) who wind up buying
McNamara/Troy, the Miami-based plastic surgery practice of Dr. Sean
McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon).

That's sorta a big spoiler don't you think, about him buying the
practice. A warning might have been in order.

It's all over the 'net as part of the publicity for the upcoming
season. You would have seen it somewhere eventually. This mention was
at least the 3rd time this week I've seen that part of the plotline
outed somewhere.

So how many eps after the introduction of Lathan's character do you
give it before good doctor Troy has his tongue so far up her ass he
can taste her lunch?

Speaking of Nip/Tuck is there some sort of competition on FX to nab
stars? Shawn Ryan casts Glenn Close. Than Peter Tolan nabs Susan
Sarandon. Than not to be outdone Ryan Murphy casts Kathleen Turner.
What's next? Charlton Heston on The Shield.

GarondoMarondo...
Turner is pretty low on the totum pole these days.

Heston is unable to work in case you didn't know.

Russell Watson...
I don't know but I don't like it.
Part of the appeal of these shows is the casts made of people you
already seen ad nauseum. Glenn Close was more of distraction than
anything else on "The Shield", and about the time I got used to her as
the Monica character she was gone, having decided to dabble for a
season and then go back to whatever she usually does with her time.
Then they brought Forrest Whittaker on and his scenery-chewing,
foaming at the mouth Kavanaugh character is so weird as to be surreal.
I would rather have seen competent but relatively unknown actors in
thes roles who didn't have to "stand out" among the regular cast.
I think Sarandon will be a bit easier to take in "Rescue Me" because
she's not really a central character and there's no indication (yet)
that they will focus more on the Franco character this season than in
previous ones just because she's his new squeeze.
Kathleen Turner has been out of the limelight long enough that it's
possible that she will blend into the "Nip/Tuck" cast a little easier,
as well. That show got weird enough last season without any big
"names" to gum up the works. If it doesn't appear to be any better
this season after a couple of eps I'll probably toss it. As it is, I
only watched about every 3rd ep after the first 3 last season.
