Seeing the performances of Bianca Ryan and then hearing her talk in the
short pieces on AGT and a radio interview I heard, it strikes me how
much of a difference there seems to be between her onstage and offstage
personas.
There she is belting out these seemingly emotion-charged "grownup"
songs, yet seems to be an extremely normal girl. Doesn't strike me as
"wise beyond her years" or particularly more articulate than any other
reasonably bright kid her age. One wonders where all this emotion in
her performances is coming from. Just enthusiastic, skillful mimicry
on her part? Is this par for the course with talented young performers?

I think there is a painful shyness in Bianca. I find it refreshing to see a
girl ill at ease with interview at age 11. I doubt many of my high school
students could handle that situation.

I enjoyed the way she acts--not at all polished or rehearsed. Instead she
acts her age, which is a good thing.
Plus, she was in genuine shock when she won, so she must not have thought
she did a really good job.
Or maybe I like her because her personality (not talent) reminds me of my
niece.
