Laura M...
Is it just me or is this season worse than last season?

goo...
I'm not so sure. I think there are a higher number of better singers
this year than last (especially with the ladies). But you may be
comparing the last episodes of last season's with the early episodes of
this one. The performances got steadily better last year. I would
expect the same this year. It's probably too early to compare them.

Callen Molenda...
It doesn't seem to be as much "fun" as last year, and Tommy Lee's increasing
skeeviness is only going to get worse as he gets more comfortable with his
role. Hopefully, once they've weeded out the people who have NO chance
(Zayra, Phil, Dana, maybe even Jenny) the show will pick up a bit.

seerialmom...
I haven't even watched my DVR'ed copy of this week's show and barely
caught the elimination from last night. Aside from the points you make
above, I don't think the "band Supernova" has the same/broad appeal
that iNXS had. Plus we felt bad for them because their lead singer
died. For me it's kinda like a "whatever" show at this point.

WiNK...
Indeed...I *cared* more last year, but I was also horrified. *No one* could
replace Michael, in my eyes. But it was like a train wreck--had to watch.
This year, I feel no emotional connection to any of the band members--was
only a casual fan of all of their bands in my heavy metal heyday. ;-)

Scary thing is.....Dave Navarro (we have always called him Satan) is looking
less creepy to my daughter this year. Familiarity??

derekabma...
Broad appeal? You're appealing to everyone who's a fan of either G'n'R,
Metallica or Motley Crue. Those are the three biggest hard rock bands
of the late 80s, early 90s when that kind of music was at its peak in
popularity. I'd say that's way more broader than INXS.

topcat...
I disagree. Often good individual parts don't add up to a good whole. I
found the INXS contest much more interesting. The remaining band members
knew each other better (obviously). These three often seem to be pulling
their punches so as not to offend one another. Maybe it will get better as
it goes on, but right now last years show was much more compelling, imo.

Casey McDonald's Guidance Counsellor, Ian J. Ball...
The problem on my end is that while I have great faith in Newsted (more
for _Flotsam & Jetsam_ than for his time with _Metallica_), and am
neutral on Gilby, anything that involves Tommy Lee is inherently
suspect, and I'm doubting we'll get a real band out of it.

If this project were Newsted, Gilby Clarke, and someone I had some
confidence in, I'd be a lot more excited at the prospect, as musically,
it'd be right up my alley...

Mike...
I've heard AI described this same way. Hope springs eternal.

Nevertheless, I like Rockstar cuz that House Band is awesome!

Oh yeah, Brooke B., too.

Laura M...
GHADS! Did you all see last night's performance by Sayida (sp?)? Oh
please, someone put her out of her misery.

Annie...
I think the band will get rid of the guys that don't really have a chance
first. This way they can drool over the women as long as possible.

Annie
(Can't think of any other reason that Zayra didn't get kicked last night)

Ian J. Ball...
Um, cos Chris, as courteous as he was, was worse? Just sayin'...

Annie...
Not on my tv. They were equally horrendous. I'd have gotten rid of them
both...and still wanted to throw out a couple more.

WiNK...
The drummer (Nate Morton) kicks serious ass. Read a story about him in
Modern Drummer.... former classmate of Abe Laboriel Jr., our hero (drummer
daughter.) I love watching Nate play.

seapig...
I was a bigger fan of these guys' old bands than I ever was of INXS, so
I don't mind that change, and I think the talent level of the
contestants is at least close to what it was last year. I do miss the
weekly "reality" episode (I now they're still online, but my antique
computer isn't really up to the task). It made the competition more
interesting when I felt like I knew the contestants a little bit, even
if they were subject to the usual manipulative editing found on those
shows.

tom...
it's definitely not you. and what's with there being another brutal
canadian.
