Ryan Seacrest: Already the next Brent Musburger?

Jonathan Allen...
Let's face it: Ryan Seacrest is EVERYWHERE!

Nancy2...
I believe Ryan has been quoted as saying he wants to do as much as he
can while he still has the ability. Good for him.

From his radio gigs with his KIIS FM show and American Top 40, to E!
News, subbing for Larry King, and of course "American Idol" on the TV
side, to even his own clothing line, there's no stopping him.

I don't know about you, but all this around him reminds me of another
person who also rose to the top only that his ego would later get to
him: BRENT MUSBURGER!

While Seacrest's catch phrase used to be "Seacrest...OUT!", Musburger's
"You are looking LIVE!" had millions of football fans pumped every
Sunday on "The NFL Today". By the late '80s, he was doing like Seacrest
is now: Covering all the major events for CBS Sports, including the NCAA
Final Four, NBA Finals, the Masters, and college football. Even Kevin
Nealon poked fun at him on Saturday Night Live, much like Jimmy Fallon
would later do with Brent's colleague Pat O'Brien.

However, upper management at CBS were unhappy at Musburger hogging all
the spotlight, and on April Fools Day 1990, he was given the pink slip.
Many thought CBS was pulling a prank on him, but it was no fooling: He
was gone.

Of course, Brent wouldn't be out of a job for long; a while later, he
would find a new home at ABC. 16 years later (one year longer than the
15 he served at CBS), he's still there.

And now, Seacrest. At 31 (way younger than Musburger), he's already
surpassed Howard Stern as the King of All Media; he even has a star on
the Hollywood Walk of Fame! But just like Musburger at CBS, is his ego
starting to get to him that fast?

Nancy2...
What is there about his working hard that says he has a giant ego? He
didn't put his own star on the Walk of Fame, did he? He didn't call

Alan Moorman...
He must have. A star buys a Walk of Fame star -- they aren't just
given them by some panel of judges. Actual money......

himself the "King of All Media," did he? He doesn't have much control
over what is written about him.

Maybe Ryan should take some notes from Musburger next time about being a
one-man everything.

Nancy2...
The kid is working hard to live life to the fullest while he's young -
like I said, good for him. He is a role model for people who think
they should fall back and wait for things to fall into their laps. I
don't see an ego at all.

Alan Moorman...
He's bland, but he is a hard worker -- I'll give you that!

To me, he's likable, but I have the feeling that, if you knew him,
you'd find that there isn't much there because he is so obsessed with
his image and career that he doesn't have time for people.

Jude Cormier...
would you say he is the new Dick Clark?

elf...
When he has maintained his career at this pace for another 15 or 20 years,
then it can be a fair comparison.

CherylO...
Seacrest definitely has a huge ego, but he is careful about showing it.
Nothinh wrong with being ambitious, but he should probably cut back, as he
is getting over exposed, which is never a good think in LaLa Land.
