Shows ranked in order of ratings:

CBS - "CSI" (new) - 16.9/25 (27.6 million)

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
This getting to the low end of "CSI's" recent ratings, yes?

FOX - "American Idol" - 15.2/23 (26.2 million)

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
Ugh...

CBS - "Without A Trace" (new) - 13.0/21 (13.0 million)

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
I'm nearly positive this is a typo - my guess is that they either meant
23.0 million, 19.0 million or 16.0 million.

But a household rating that that is exactly the same as the viewer
number is virtually impossible.

CBS - "Survivor: Panama - Exile Island" - 9.2/14 (16.2 million)

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
Also lower.
It's interesting how this season's first "Survivor" edition bounced back
in the ratings some, but this season's edition #2 is tanking a bit...

NBC - "ER" - 8.6/14 (13.0 million)

Obveeus...
drastically

I don't know what you mean by "loners and single old folks." Anyone

Obveeus...
Look at the 13.0/21 vs. the 8.6/14 even though the same number (13.0
million) were watching. I was wondering what accounted for that 50%
difference in the rating number...except maybe for the number of people
watching alone vs. in groups.

patty1...
Oh, okay. I was just responding to your comparison of 18-49 vs. all
viewers, not to the specifics of the all-viewers numbers.

over 49 is not shown in that number, whether they're single or married.

Obveeus...
Old folks are not shown in the 18-49 numbers, but aren't they still shown in
the 'Shows ranked in order of ratings' number? That is the number with the

patty1...
Yes. "That number" was referring to the line I had quoted just above, which
was the 18-49 number.

BTW, 50-year-olds are not generally thought of as "old folks" any more. ;-)

Obveeus...
50 is old. 35 is old if you are in a survival situation (trust me, I have
documentation).
The only people that think 50 isn't old are the old people in denial.

ANIM8Rfsk...
Oh?

You get an invitation to participate in the senior Olympics recently?

50 and up.

Well, except maybe by network execs who only care about young adults...

big rating difference.

And anyone who's been following ratings for any time at all knows that
CBS traditionally skews older. Look at these:

Obveeus...
Yep...back in old people days CBS was all they had so they stick with it.
;-)

I wonder how much longer NBC will stick with this.
Just one more season would be my guess.

Tiny Dancer...
That's the ticket :-) Let's see if I have this down yet. As far as I know,
the 13.0/21 (household rating/share) for WaT means 13% of all possible
household TVs were on and tuned to CBS from 10-11PM (with 21% of
the TVs that were turned on watching CBS). Meanwhile, 8.6% of all TVs
were tuned to NBC and 14% of TVs actually being watched were on NBC.

However, the viewer totals (13 million for each) don't go by percentages,
strictly viewer numbers. One of those households tuned to "ER" may have
four people in the house watching, so they'll count for four. Whereas one
household tuned to WaT may have a lonely guy in his bathrobe, so he only
counts as one. Does that make sense?

Obveeus...
I guess it makes sense...except that I don't really see why ER would be
group oriented while WaT would attract the loner crowd. I don't watch WaT,
so what is it about the show that appeals to the 'unattached'?

FOX - "Skating With Celebrities" (finale) - 8.5/13 (14.1 million)

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
I forgot all about this - who won?

NBC - "My Name Is Earl" - 6.7/10 (11.3 million)
NBC - "Deal or No Deal" - 6.1/9 (9.6 million)
ABC - "Primetime Live" - 5.6/9 (7.8 million)
NBC - "The Office" - 5.2/8 (8.5 million)

Jack Bauer's Spunky Sidekick, Ian J. Ball...
NBC has got to start doing better than this on Thursdays - if it means
going to 3 1-hour dramas, so be it. But they've got to turn this
around...

ABC - "Sweet Home Alabama" - (no data, 5.8/9 from 9-10PM) (7.6 million)
WB - "Smallville" (repeat) - (no data)
UPN - "Everybody Hates Chris" (new?) - 2.3/4
WB - "Beauty and the Geek" - 2.1/3
UPN - "Love, Inc." (new?) - 1.6/2
UPN - "Eve" - (no data)
UPN - "Cuts" - (no data)
