Mary H...
Did anyone else watch this? I figured it would be good at least for a
few laughs, but it didn't even rise to that level.

I thought the only person the least bit believable in his/her part was
Naveen Andrews. It was like he was off in another, better movie that

Steven L....
I didn't think Naveen was that good either. But maybe he was doing the
best he could with a one-dimensional role

got spliced into this one.

The acting was quite bad, IMHO, especially by Moses' mother, or
mothers, pick one. It just seemed to jump around with bad pacing or
something.

Steven L....
The screenplay was lifeless. I watched the whole thing without any
sense of awe, empathy, excitement, or any other emotion. It had a "So
what?" quality to it.

PastaLover...
Well, it is based on a very old story that's been told many times over.
Superman did it better.

Another problem was that this production obviously had a lower budget
(adjusted for inflation) than the 1956 DeMille version. Thus it lacked
the spectacular visual sweep of the 1956 version.

And worst of all: From what the media critics and reviewers have said,
part 2 (tonight) will be even more boring than part 1.

Marlene Blanshay...
nothing could be worse than 'Les dix commandements' which was a french
language musical that premiered a few years ago. It ran for about 3 days
and then closed. Probably because the music was horrendous- i saw a
video of one of the songs on tv and it was unlistenable. For such a
visually interesting story, it has really sucked when it comes to any
depictions, except for the big DeMIlle Blockbuster.

jayembee...
You mean the Big DeMille Blockbusters (plural). DeMille filmed the
silent 1923 version, too.

The Other One...
I agree -- the movie sucked. Moses comes off as a wishy-washy

Taylor...
ah-ha Can't beat the real thing, huh (Heston version)? It'll NEVER be a
yearly "event" for ABC and will probably DUMP it off on The Hallmark
Channel to air around this time on a Saturday afternoon from here on
end. lol

Jude Cormier...
Well it is a Hallmark Entertainment production....

whiner.Even when he was repeatedly demanding that the pharaoh let his
people go, he was pretty laid back and not particularly forceful about
it. I can see why the Pharaoh would deny his requests. The acting
(except for Naveen Andrews, and even he was kind of boring) was
TERRIBLE. Apparently the director neglected to tell ANYONE what their
motivation was and they were all just phoning it in. The kids were
downright robotic.

If you want entertainment and drama, watch the 1956 version. If you
want to be merely annoyed and possibly to fall asleep, watch the 2006
one.

BTR1701...
I didn't even think the SFX were significantly better than the Charlton
Heston version. Truly sad.

sdlitvin...
One thing that was definitely worse than the Charlton Heston 1956
version, was the background musical score. The 1956 Heston version
had Elmer Bernstein's awesome symphonic musical score. This new
version had el cheapo Middle Eastern music. I felt like I was
listening to an Israeli wedding.

The most fun I had was imaging a Monty Pythonesqe sketch when Moses was
holding the Red Sea back and was distracted by Naveen. I wished he had
said, "oops!" while watching the sea pore back in.

Jude Cormier...
I enjoyed it.
