The final season of "Alias" went from 22 to 17. Now there are chances it
might not even get the 17 episodes. Right now the plan is for 8 more
episodes when it returns but since there is no room for the show yet they
might reduce it even further :(

Technically the Alias episodes are ALREADY filmed and in
post-production. So there are definitely 8 more episodes, done &
finished.
The question is: Will ABC air them all? I think they will. They've
got 8 weeks during April & May, so there's room for one episode per
week... with some spill-over into June.

I suspect that the show will be completed, because if it comes to a
satisfactory conclusion they will sell far more DVDs.
I have just given up on Lost, and will wait until it comes to a
satisfactory conclusion. Once I *know* it does I will buy the DVDs.

I'm not upset, yet. I still feel as though we will get the eight episodes.
There is an audience for it and I'm certain some of the junk they will be
throwing at us will fail. I can't blame the ABC suites in attempting to
float new projects. Look how Grey's Anatomy blossomed late last season.
Alias will return to tie up things up, when is still the question.

I'm not (that) upset either. Advanced notice and 8 episodes to rap things
up is a heck of a lot better deal than most other shows get. Firefly,
Wonderfalls, Tru Calling, etc. sure could have used advanced notice and 8
episodes...

Are you talking about filming episodes or airing episodes?
Haven't they already filmed all the episodes originally planned for the
season?
I hope this doesn't mean people will have to buy the DVD in order to see all
the episodes filmed.

I think they're still filming. They took a break around the holidays
for JG to give birth.
For that matter, I think most (if not all) regular network programs are
still filming. I think it's still a bit early in the TV season to have
wrapped up (I could be wrong...)

Gilmore Girls actually finished filming its 16th episode of the season
(15th aired, the Valentine's Episode) so shortly after Betty Friedan
died at the beginning of February that they were able to work it into
the episode as a throw-away line. Figuring in the reduced
episode-load for this season, Alias is pretty much going according to
schedule.

I'm talking on filming the episodes. They are currently working on episode
13. So they might have to wrap things up sooner than originally planned.
