Here it is Sunday morning looking for my political news fix from Meet the
Press and This Week with George Stephanopoulos and all of the Buffalo
affiliates which my cable company picks up seem to be off the air.
Did someone finally nuke Buffalo?
Just when I was going to do a compare & contrast between This Week and
Meet the Press. Guess I'll have to try their websites for MP3 downloads.

Off the air or not available from cable may have different causes.
Because you don't see stations on your cable system isn't reason to
believe those stations are not broadcasting.

I didn't mean to imply that they were literally 'off the air', just that
they weren't on my TV. It was selective in that all other channels were on
jus the Buffalo affiliates were blank.

Your cable company has an antenna pointed at Buffalo, others at
Rochester, Toronto, Jamestown, whatever (you didn't say where you are).
Either the Buffalo antenna blew down or some electronic component
between there and the cable company's output to you went blooey.
When I call about things like that I usually get "We're working on it,"
from somebody with a southern accent. I assume they close up the local
office at 5:00 and go home, so nobody fixes anything until the next
morning.

What was the response when you called your cable provider to
report the problem?
karl...
|
I didn't. From past experience there is no point.
They are back on now.

Cable providers respond when you call in to report problems??????
akjack...
|
Sure, they say I was the first to report the problem. I noticed
that if I didn't call, the outages were longer than when I did call.

Then keep up the good work! the rest of us get non-answers from bored
call-centre drones. That is if we are able to struggle out of the maze of
voicemail hell.
We're all grateful you are on the job.
|
BTW, the power company also replies with...you are the first customer
to report this outage. Sometimes the power company rep. says this
outage was scheduled, didn't you get a notice in the mail?
