Pete discovered the space ship, and if i remember correctly, threatend
to go to the media or the police because he didn't understand why Clark
ahd the spaceship.
Clark was forced to tell him.

You'd need a whole raft of Earth-T1, T2, etc., since George Reeves'
Superman obviously didn't share a world with Dean Cain's, or Gerard
Christopher's Superboy, or Tom Welling's Clark Kent. (Not even
getting into the assorted animated versions, or the Adam West
Batman-- who *did* share a world with the Green Hornet and Kato...)

Fixed that. And the answer to the question is yes! Very much so. But in
a real way, not the Victoria's Secret way. Chloe could be hot camping,
or fishing, or playing touch football, or dressed up in evening wear. It
is her personality and the spark in her eye as much as it is her body/looks.

...Oracle?
Michael S. Schiffer...

Jor-El predicted it would "nova" (and for once the ruling council
believed him... then referred the matter to committee, resulting in
bureaucratic delays). The art showed Krypton falling into its sun.

Definitely, from Earth-Prime's first appearance.

Jerry and Naomi Kent, too, not Jonathan and Martha. Superboy-Prime
also grew up on the east coast, somewhere in New England, not in
Kansas.
|
MarkRRose...
|
Yes, she's Oracle and Green Arrow is Batman (and the entire role i think
would have been played had they brought in Bruce Wayne as originally
planned).
Tom...
|
I agree with you on the Batman theory, Mark. I wondered 'aloud' here
some months ago as to whether the rumored Bruce/Batman arc was already
written and they replaced Bruce with Ollie.
Denny Colt...

While they're certainly playing up GA as a Batman-type (after all, that

Good point, although I don't think pulling over and locking your door
would protect you against an angry man with a car.
David L. Burkhead...
|
Or an angry man without a car. It's not that hard to break a car window
(windshields, are quite a bit tougher, but side windows...). That's why I
cringe every time I see someone on TV or in the movies try to avoid some
threat by sitting in their car and locking the doors. It just doesn't work
against any real threat.
David L. Burkhead
Anim8rFSK...
|
Yeah. I was just thinking, car, even if he doesn't use it directly, has
a trunk full of handy dandy stuff. And if he gets out and comes at her
with a tire iron, and she drives off, he's still got a car . . .
|

It is around somewhere for sure. They could just ask the people at Belle
Reve or look to see where their supplies are being shipped. A little ground
work. Instead we see Queen use his satellites and Chloe hack cell phones.

Anim8rFSK...
|
Yeah, given the way Chloe found THIS place, you'd think she'd be able to
find 33.1.
Of course, there's also the little matter of why they didn't take Bart
to 33.1?
|
|
was how he started in the comics) I've read in interviews with the
producers that their original Bruce Wayne was Ian Sommerhalder as "Adam
Knight" - then they found out they couldn't use him so they changed his
story. I think they conceived this whole GA story specifically for GA,
but again, thsi is essentially their version of Batman. After all, if
they HAD used Bruce Wayne, they never would have put him in costume
calling himself Batman the way they're doing with GA.
robrogers72...
|
I agree. Ollie *was* the original financial backer of the Justice
League,
if I remember correctly, even if he wasn't a founding member. Batman
has always worked with the League, but I can't picture him forming it
|
|
David B...
|
It was written for Green Arrow. The Smallville producers have pretty much
realized that Warner Brothers will never let them use Batman so they're using
Green Arrow who is basically a Batman clone.

Great ep!

dvandom...

That was my thought too. :)
Tom...
|
Great minds and all that, Dave! ;-)
Michael...
|
They all but gave her a code name.
dvandom...
|
Yeah, it was unclear whether Watchtower referred to Ollie's base in the
clocktower and was code for whoever would be left behind to coordinate a
mission, or if Watchtower was Chloe's codename in specific.
Michael...
|
I took it to be "Watchtower" = "Base" "HQ", or something like that.
Rob Jensen...
|
BTW, wasn't Ollie's Watchtower apartment set just the Birds of Prey
Watchtower set slightly redressed?

Denny Colt...
|
I got the impression that Watchtower was the code for the headquarters,
since it's a) what they call the JLA base in the comics and b) it's in
a clock("watch")tower, which made me realize that's why they gave him
that apartment in the first place, which I appreciated.
I liked the episode, even though afterward I realized not all that much
happened. It was tense and thrilling, but there really wasn't that much
action (which is actually a compliment - they used their time very
well). It really should have been a two-parter - give them all more to
do. Ollie had some good scenes with Lex, the scenes with Bart and Clark
at the beginning were great, and I loved Cyborg's little jack-in trick,
but I wish they'd done more with Aquaman - at least let him beat
someone up.
And I like the "Boy Scout" codename for Clark - very clever. But why
was Bart dressed in Flash's red but called Impulse? Especially now that
Bart is actually Flash in the comics. Does anyone know the actual

Thank you. I hope you also enjoy reading me when we aren't in agreement, as
has already happened a couple of times today.

That's ok. I have a different look I think at this show because I'm
interested in writing and I must look through the eyes of the different
characters. Most people try to indentify with a likeable character and that
winds up being Chloe or Clark usually. Most people hate Lana--beats me why.
I'd chew off an arm to have an honest dedicated woman that just happened to
look like her. For most actors the interesting roles are in the villains
because they have more range. We see this in Lex and Lionel. Wow these
guys are multifaceted. Unfortunately when Clark gets the range it is making
a bad superhero. Red K Clark--Kal-el Clark, etc. Welling is much better
being a bad guy. Nicodemus Lana and Rush Chloe were good and once again it
is because they were bad. Alicia was appealing and she was bad at first.
etc. Right now I see bad superheros (to give them range and character) and
I see a Lex that is not really turning the corner on being the bad guy.
Maybe the Smallville story is taking a turn where they make it really only
the freaks that are evil and the alien threat keeps Lex from going over the
edge. as you know from my posts, I see 33.1 as mostly innuendo so far.
We'll see. I see Reckoning as the turning point from good show to a mess.
Maybe we will have a few gems here and there but the show has lost its
humor. Even the usually humorous Lois is now a serious girl--fed up with
one hero.
Speaking of Heroes--it returns tonight I believe. No story complaints with
that show. Originally I didn't like the girl with the split
personality--didn't look like a hero to me. But since Sylar has come around
she is tame compared to him. Horn-rimmed and Hiro are my favorite
characters.

Yes -- in his discussion of tragedy, I believe, although it's been a long

reason? Are the rights to the Flash tied up with the possible film?
That was kind of a bummer, but otherwise I enjoyed it.
Glenn Simpson...
|
I've heard DC is a little weird about what they allow and don't, so
it's possible someone a DC didn't want "Flash" to get too committed to
Smallville and hurt the chances of a film, and thus insisted on Impulse.
Bill Steele...
|
Yet the title of the episode in which he was introduced was "Flash."
Denny Colt...
|
I think it was called "Run" actually. Fans just called him Flash
because of who he is and the red clothes.
Bill Steele...
|
Could be faulty memory, but I believe I saw the title "Flash" on the
online listing for the rerun they aired the week before "Justice."
|
Parallax...
|
IIRC, the previews for that episode specifically referred to him as The
Flash.
Denny Colt...
|
Actually, I think you're right. I believe they also referred to Aquaman
specifically in the promos for "Aqua" too.
|
|
|
David B...
Speaking of people figuring out who's who, Ollie sort of blew it when he
went to a costume party looking exactly like the ultimate GA.
|
|
Michael...
|
I'd guess that that's part of the producers mixing in liberal helping of
Wally (and maybe other Flashes) into Bart.
Anyone notice he was wearing a red top and yellow pants at one points?
VERY Kid Flash!
|
|
Dave Van Domelen, wonders if Clark will get a hoodie too.
|
|
|
|
I really dug tonight's episode. Great effects, great in- jokes, great
to see all of the heroes together.
BC...
|
There was another -- The Phantom that was early.
BC
|
What's Lionel's role in the 33.1? Isn't he Martha's and Clark's friend?
Anim8rFSK...
|
Yes, The Phantom began as a daily comic strip in 1936. Other media came
after the Bat.
|
(rolling my eyes)
Michael...
|
I think he's playing a little fast and loose, not telling Clark
everything while holding a lot more back from Lex.
|
dvandom...
|
He is a faction unto himself. He no doubt has Clark's best interests at
heart, but Clark might not agree that those ARE his best interests. For
instance, Lionel might be planning to use 33.1 to fight the Zoners. Or to
present them to Clark as an army for him to use in ruling the world.
mchary...
|
I'm not convinced Jor-El's not still in there somewhere.
|
Tom...
Dave Van Domelen, wonders if Bart's more monochrome costume makes him
Red Impulse?
mchary...
|
If he ran around naked, they'd call him Flash :)
David L. Burkhead...
|
Or would they call him the Streak? (Fastest thing on two feet. Don't look
Ethyl!) :P
|
|
Tom...
|
I kinda liked the big gold lightning bolt on his back.
If he learns how to use Ollie's bow and arrows, he could be Red Arrow,
too! ;-)
Michael...
|
|
Godblessit! I lost my wireless connection just as the Luthorcorp
facility blew!
Ah, now it's back! :-)
I enjoyed this episode immensely!
Arthur Lipscomb...

Finally, a good episode.
So was that the original Aquaman together with his wouldbe replacement?
