Worst Trend in Reality TV??

Having a performance show and a results show back to back the same
week each week!!

Sorry your refering to American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, America's Got
Tallent etc...

those arn't reality shows. they're variety competition shows. Why people
consider American Idol a reality show I have no idea. If they had a show
each night where you followed the contestants living together or going to
rehearsals with a once a week show where they perform, another show where
someone is kicked off then the regular show dealing with their reactions
after the show when they get back to the house their living in or something
then yes it's a variety show. But we see 2 to 12 people each night singing
songs. thats a varierty show...at the very worst it's a game show.

It's not even close to any definition of a reality show and as a reality
show fan it's bizzar to me how it managed to get lumped into a reality
catagory

It took me awhile to figure out what you said in that 6+ line
sentence, but all of the things you described DOES describe American
Idol. They no longer live together, but they did in the first two
seasons. But they certainly do give the viewers a lot of information
about the contestants and it is a show where average joes, not actors,
are portrayed, and there are no scripts. That's reality.

Works for American Idol because the viewing audience wants to know who
is out before the next Tuesdays show but the one for Dancing With The
Stars was pathetic and the new Regis Philbin show is going to have
that as well from what has been described about it......Hopefully this
trend doesnt catch on any further as it waters down the entire TV
lineup and takes away from other shows that hopefully would be more
interesting!! Wiould be great if viewers started boycotting these
results shows or just tuned in for the last five or ten minutes to
show the networks they dont like this lazy kind of programming!!
