Hollywood Prepares to Explain Why Oscar Ratings Hit All Time Low!

They will claim that homophobia was the reason for EXPECTED
disasterous ratings, except in W. Hollywood, SF, and Fire Island!
Hollywood is NOT out of touch with mainstream America. Mainstream
America is out of touch with Hollywood! That will be their SPIN on
Monday!!!

Really, I would have expected ratings to go up. The only reason I
watched this year was to see Jon Stewart and he did not disappoint.

I missed most of it because I thought the show was starting at 8pm
Pacific time. When I turned on the TV at 7:40, major awards were being
presented, and everything ended at 8:30. (I cancelled my TV Guide
subscription a couple of months ago, and the online listings had a
show about the Oscars at 8pm, didn't bother to check further..)

How's that for a reason?

In the past it usually started at 8pm Pacific time, right? I'm getting

Nope, it's always a live broadcast. Some of the smaller awards
shows are live in ET and CT and tape delayed in the other time
zones, but the Oscars are live across the country.

Oh, come on! I'm sure that traditionally the Oscars have started in
the evening and gone to around 11pm on the west coast. Can't be wrong
about that. Don't know how to check either way.

There have been many stories, anecdotes, etc. about having to do this night
time event at about 4 p.m. their local time, etc.

Indeed, when I've watched any of the red-carpet arrivals (which I
rarely do), it's always been weird to see people wearing full evening
dress when the sun is still out. And when the sun is still coming
through the windows of my house, too.

I was on the East Coast until recently and it always started at 8 (or
possibly 9pm) out there. I would imagine they would not tape delay the
oscars on the WC.

It went from 6 to 9:30ish in Arizona. If CA got it at the same time, it
would have been 5 to 8:30. No idea what they did afterwards.
