About a 1.0. Would have been even lower, but the last two minutes was
gritty fun.........
This show is in danger of becoming nothing more than night-time soap
opera.

"Lost" writers should visit sets of other shows and give lectures on
how to write great opening teasers and cliffhangers.

Well, the telegraphed Henry's ending speech pretty clearly
as the folks approached the clearing.
And the scene clips for next week's show had a nasty spoiler or two,
though there is some room for ambiguity even given what they showed.
Henry's the most interesting thing to happen to the show in
a while, though.

2 stars, gorram lazy writing, the show is on autopilot. Only the Henry
Gale part at the end was something which caught my attention.

I'll give it a 3.9
I can't say much. I love Jin and Sun episodes, but it still wasn't
as satisfying as the last few minutes with Gale leading Jack and Locke
down the merry lane of doubt, suspicion, and discord.

I give it 5 Stars.
I liked the Sun and Jin backstory and that last scene with Henry was
just a little eerie for me.
Also I found Ana-Lucia's line "Jack and Locke are a little too busy
worrying about Locke and Jack" extremely hilarious.

It had me in stiches. 4.25 for me. Sun looked hot there at the beginning
of her flashback.

HATE the Jin/Sun stories and flashbacks. Sorry equal time opinion....

Loved how Jin now recognized the phrase, "Daddeo" and what the frak Sawyer was talking about. And very nice how they showed what English sounds like to him.
I wonder, did anyone do a comparison of what he heard and what was understood? Some words, while they don't mean the same, could have come across as real korean words to him.

I misprogrammed the DVR and it cut off with about 10 minutes to go. Can
someone please spoil me?

Pretty much an entire episode devoted to issues of trust :-)
Although I enjoyed the expansions on Sun and Jin's story,
the Henry Gale plot was handled so well in this ep that it
overshadowed the "primary" story. In both stories the
issue of trust comes up repeatedly, and we're left
wondering in both stories how much got left out:
Did Sun lie about not having an affair? And how
much did Ana Lucia tell Gale about her experiences
while asking him for the map? (His "trust issues"
line to Jack and Locke echoed her own similar
line in a previous ep - did she tell about the
kidnappings, about Jack's war plans, etc? Jack
was frantic when he couldn't hear the conversation
that took place between them, and certainly must
wonder how much info she may have given the
"enemy").
Jack ironically gives Sun a speech about marital honesty,
admitting he's not the one to give such advice, forgetting
his own broader trust issues on the island, and the Gale
problem in particular.
So it's very ironic that when Jack does show
Gale some trust and invites him out for
breakfast, an act that clearly astonishes Gale,
he chooses to weave his creepy "if I were an
Other" tale for them. Nice return for an
unexpected show of kindness :-) (Should
we put you back in the cage, like, Right Now?!
You're creepin' us out, Gale!)
I think Gale's treatment at the hands of the
Losties has left him extremely bitter and suspicious
(and I think that would hold even if he was
an Other). They've left him no reason to believe
they are people he'd want to socialize with
or join, and if he is ever to be integrated
with the Losties he'll have a tough time
accepting the leadership of Locke or Jack.
This was the best scene on the show
in quite some time. About time for Jack and Locke
to realize that everybody, even a complete
stranger, recognizes their power-play games,
and put an end to them (or at least try - I think
the trust issues may get in the way of a
heart-to-heart airing of the issues between
them given neither is willing to see the other's
point of view). They'd be better united against
the Other threat and anything else that comes
up than divided as they are, and should realize
after Sawyer's New Sherriff speech that they've
done nothing to unite the survivors or even
substantially protect them. Logically a council
of some sort should have followed that incident,
to air the leadership issue and resolve it. But
everybody seems too withdrawn into themselves
to question things as a group or resolve them
as a group. Plus trust issues :-)

Would have been a perfect 5.0, except they didn't give us any one liners
from Sawyer when Sun asked for the pregnancy test. I was looking forward to
those.
But I loved the "It's a miracle!" aspect - I guess that's the second medical
miracle the island has brought forth, I loved Jin and how vulnerable he was
when he was replanting Sun's garden. I liked the backstory - at least it was
explained how Sun learned English - and why.
And I *really* loved Henry's little "what would I do if I was an other"
spiel. If they hadn't ruined the next episode with the balloon shot, that
would have been *really* perfect.

Have they ruined it?
If Henry was an Other, he'd be intimately familiary with the
island, including, say, some balloon that had crashed there.
He'd use that knowledge in setting them up. The balloon in
no way proves his story's true.
But I do wish they hadn't shown it, anyway.

Ah, but why can't Henry be an Other *and* someone have crashed on the
island in a ballon in the past?
