Is it just my affiliate, or is anyone else having audio problems with NBC?
I can't hear any of the voices, but the background sounds and sound effects
are coming in fine. The sound works perfectly during commercials, then the
character's voices disappear again during the show.

What is your affiliate? There were sound problems last night during Leno on
the Buffalo affiliate.

If you notice nowadays, most ads are louder than regular programming.
There was an FCC rule that once forbade this. But it was probably
dropped after the corporate-friendly FCC took control in 2001.

The whole ad can be as loud as the loudest moment in the show. And, that was
changed in the 1990s - I think second half of the 1990s. PITA it is, too.

Call your local NBC affiliate immediately and ask for the control
room (choose the newsroom choice and have them transfer you, since
no one else answers the phone at night).

As an MCO, I laugh at this solution. Under absolutely no circumstances
does our newsroom transfer calls from the general public to our control
room. They take down the problem the caller has and if they get about
15+ more calls from different people, then they call the engineering
dept...not the control room.

Then your newsroom isn't like the rest. I have done this exact thing
with four different affiliates and am always transferred to the control
room by the news desk when I ask.
|
The MCO in the control room would know immediately if there is a
problem that could be fixed right away. If there is no problems with
commercials, then don't hold your breath until it gets corrected.

The control room fixes problems in seconds after I call them to
let them know about them.
|
Also, if it is a HD problem, don't expect it to get taken care of
anytime soon, as the general public can still see the program fine on
its respective analog channel. HD viewing is considered a luxury and
if there's a problem it's prioriity #101 on a list of 100 prirorities.

Wrong again. Where the F are you from? Over and over the locals
are messing up the HD feeds during this transition period and they
take care of it immediately when someone calls into the control
room (usually, me).
|
|
They have the audio settings wrong so that you are only getting
the rear channels on HD shows that are in surround sound.
