Paramount has given their approval just as long as these different
groups stay non-profit. Re-capturing costs is alright, I assume.

The key (to me) here is that it's got an announcement on the official
Star Trek site. I think we can safely assume that the guys doing this
have gotten approval.

Since P'mount has nothing on the schedule for TWO YEARS it's not likely to
overshadow ST XI.

In the beginning there was the fan fiction and bootlegs, stuff only shown
for friends or at conventions. Then came the internet and due to low
bandwidth, fan fiction, but with the steady increase in bandwidth and drop
in cost of filmmaking you have fan films cropping up online.
Now you have the paid professional actors, writers and directors who worked
on the official versions ... it seems like the lines are getting blurrier
and blurrier:
