I heard a whisper of a rumour from an acquaintance of a friend's third
cousin that you can do something called 'torrent' the pilot of studio
60, or could, but there are no longer any 'seeds' or 'peers' available
for it?
Not sure what any of that means . . .

Hunh. I just checked mininova, and there it shows 87 seeders and 687
leechers. I started it up, and it *was* showing a lot of peers, and
downloading, so the torrent is still good.

I never got up to the 37Mb. I just downloaded enough to make sure that
I was connecting to the tracker. I've had instances in which there
seem to be plenty of peers (specifically seeders) but nothing downloads.
With no indicatation that it's a private tracker.
I checked eztv, which is where I got it from last weekend. I figured
it's probably off the same tracker as mininova, but eztv shows no
seeders and no leechers.
I'm going to try downloading it again from mininova and see if I hit
the same 37Mb wall.

It might be easier to see the clips that were leaked to YouTube.com,
assuming they haven't been yanked and aren't a sneaky attempt by the
producers to stoke up the interest in the show.

It also is available as a Netflix rental.

Torrent is type of file.
Seeds are the starting point for collecting the various sections of a
torrent file spread out amongst various people.
Peers are the people who have the various sections of a torrent file.
You get the "seed" to start collecting the sections of the "torrent" file
from various "peers" across the net.
Imagine a "torrent" being an animated movie where the "seed" is the
storyboard and "peers" are individual animators who submit individual frames
or clips to be assembled into one big animated movie. The more animators
there are then the faster the work can be created since more are submitting
simultaneously. The same goes for torrents. The greater the popularity then
the faster the download (assuming people allow torrents in a whatever
directory they say is available for uploading).
