BATTLESTAR Sundays!!
GALACTICA Jumps In 2007!!
I am - Hercules!!
When "Battlestar Galactica" comes back from hiatus in January, it
will do so Sundays at 10 p.m.
It will be the first time new episodes of the show will not air on
Fridays.

Are they going to put Torchwood on at 9 or 11?
nfitz...
|
Has Sci-Fi purchased Torchwood? Thought it might be a litte too
much for them to handle ... guess it depends on how much they cut.

Is this a good thing???
nfitz...
|
Absolutely - makes space on Sci-Fi's Friday schedule for new
episodes of Firefly (I can dream, can't I?)
It will be interesting to see what Space in Canada does. They've
been airing the day after, at 9 pm on Saturday. A spokesman over
there has commented they are thinking about what to do with the
Sci-Fi rescheduling.

With the programming geniuses that work at Space, we'll probably just get it
a week later. Space will lose viewers to bit torrent downloads, yet again.
nfitz...
|
We'll see ... though it would really screw up the Sunday movies
schedule to run it at 10 pm. I suspect you are correct, unless they
could talk Sci-Fi into letting them run it at 8 pm Sunday. Depends on
what their contract says I guess.
To be fair, they say they "are working on a solution". (perhaps a
firing solution, so they can shoot the downloaders :-) There's a
thread on their site at:
mask! is the spokesperson.
Theyve been a bit better at things since they screwed-up so badly last
year!
Personally, I'll probably still stick to Space with a 6-day delay. By
the time sci-fi airs it, and someone uploads it would be Monday before
I watch it. And there's enough other stuff to watch in the week, that
I could survive until Saturday ... particularily as torrents seem to be
particularily poor on all the shades of black that Galactica seems to
adore.

Hard to tell. When X-Files moved from Fridays to Sundays, many people
said that it wouldn't survive the competition, but instead it grew from
a niche show into a Top 20 show.
Perhaps the same will happen with BSG... a chance to gain more viewers
on Sundays, when everyone is home.

NOt at 10 PM at night, if there are kids who watch it Friday nights,
they'll be losing those viewers due to them having school the next day.

As long as they still repeat it later on. I have been taping the show
since the begining, but have yet to find time to watch any of it. Maybe
when I retire.

I don't think the increased Sunday competiton is going to hurt ratings
because that effect will be offset by Sunday's higher audience availability.
The big stumbling block will be getting fans of the show to adjust to the
change. Right now, SciFi geeks are used to sitting at home on a Friday
night to watch the show. Soon, they will have to get used to staying up
late on a Sunday night after a full day of football and before a full day of
work.

|
I imagine the football will only be a factor for two weeks. There are
only two Sunday's of football left from the 21st...and one week is the
Superbowl. At least it won't be competing against Extreme Makeover or
TAR. Hopefully, the Space Station will continue to air the episodes on
Saturday night...

The "Space Station"? The only Space Station I have is "NASA". lol
nfitz...
|
He's talking about the cable channel "Space", originally called
"Space: The Imagination Station", which airs Galactica on Saturday
nights in Canada, 24 hours after it airs on Sci-Fi.

My apologies, those large roman numerals look so masculine to me.
But I should have known better, and used "they".
cloud dreamer...
|
Actually, the roman numerals are my political commentary. My signature
is the cheshire eyes. I'd pick a more feminine nick, but cloud dreamer
was suggested to me by a friend who died soon after. I can't bring
myself to change it.
nfitz...
|
Don't ... it seems pretty feminine to me anyway ... truth is, I never
actually looked back to see who had been posting about Space ... and
I just assumed gender based on the norm around here ... which is wrong ...
