Best use of rotoscope animation for a series?
Or is there something better?

Actually next generation rotoscoping is what they used in A Scanner Darkly,
where the image is shot and the computer paints over it. Motion capture and

I vehemently object to what they did to A Scanner Darkly being called
rotoscoping, and in fact they aren't using that term themselves, calling
it instead "Rotoshop" which is from the french term for "ugly image"

rotoscoping are two different things. Motion capture is more closely related
to puppetry, so Skyland would be better compared to H.R. Puffinstuff. (Same
sort of physical over-acting seen in the earlier episodes.)

Following up, I clipped this from the Wikipedia entry for Rotoscope:
"While rotoscoping is generally known to bring a sense of realism to larger
budget animated films, the American animation company Filmation, known for
its budget-cutting limited TV animation, was also notable for its heavy
usage of rotoscope to good effect in series such as Flash Gordon, Blackstar
and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe."
So Flash Gordon did use some.

They may have but I didn't see any in that trailer. Also, filmation
used a lot of stock walk cycles and such they retraced with new
characters. Lone Ranger and Zorro used ALL the same horse stuff. I
recognized walks and turns and such in that Flash clip (it's amazing how
stuff like that sticks in your brain).
If there WAS roto in there, I suspect it was just keys, and they hand
'tweened it.
