The WB was ready to send "7th Heaven" up to that big TV cancellation
spot in the sky. You can't really blame them. It's been 10 seasons, and
the show was losing money. Apparently, the new CW network has money to
burn.
The TV Squad says that the new network may actually want to keep the
show around. Don’t get your hopes up; the network is currently just
discussing it, and it might not even go past one more season.
It is puzzling as to why a new network would want to keep a show that
loses money. However, it is highly rated, so maybe they are looking to
hook fans before mixing up the programming schedule. -- Rachel Cericola

Regardless of money or ratings concerns, I would think that after 10
years a lot of the cast would be looking to get out and do other things.
Beverley Mitchell, for one, who seems to want to bust out of her
"wholesome" image with all of the skimpy tops she's been wearing on the
red carpet lately.

The CW is half-owned by 7H's production company, the CBS/Paramount
mess (via subsidiary Spelling) and its production heads seem to come
from the CBS half of the new netlet. You do the math.
Seems to me like they would be clamoring to renew Charmed for the same
reason, though. Conversely, if they're *seriously* considering
renewing a wretched mess like 7H, then the network's new series
development department must be in *far* worse shape than even the
deplorable shape I was envisioning. Means that all the Gilmore peeps
should hit the net up for substantial raises at the end of next year.

They said they wanted to turn a profit in the end of year one and they
sure WON'T do w/ a loss-leader like 7th Heaven. IF they renew that tired
trainwreck of a series then sing blues about profit loss, they'll have
ONLY THEMSELVES to blame.
