LOL! That's cruel! :) I like that gecko. Especially the ad where he
supposedly loses his balance, and catches himself. A lot of work went into
that creature to make him so realistic, and I still laugh everytime I see him.

And they've coordinated the sound so that you hear the *thump*the first time
he does that... fine work!

Isn't that the truth?!! The new one cracks me up, when he says "Love"...
he's not there to talk about his private life [can't remember the line]. :)

I doubt it. In the Gecko's first commercial back in the 90s he barely
moved; basically just stood there and talked in front of a bland white
screen. So it was relatively easy to animate a standing creature with
no background (note: he had a different voice back then).

As years have gone by, the Gecko has remained the same but computers
have increased in power 100-fold, so it's probably getting faster &
cheaper to animate him.

Russell Watson...
Yeah, the latest gen of commercials are the really good ones. When he
dropped the prissy uppercrust accent and started talkin' loik a
workin' class bloke 'e broke new ground, 'e did! The early ones were

I thought the accent changed, but it's been so long since I've seen
the early ones that I wasn't sure if I was dreaming or not.

The early ones were

cute but not technically very much to them, but the new ones are
really good. The best of the older ones IMO is the one where he's
going in to audition and meets the Taco Bell chihuahua coming out. He
waves and says "Hello!" in a chipper voice and the dog replies "Great!
A talking ghecko..."

I knew there was one of the originals I was forgetting about, and
that's it! That was hysterical, and I while I hated the Taco Bell
commercials (still do), seeing the poor dog out of work was priceless.
