Peanuts Thanksgiving special

I watched it last night and while it certainly is not awful it did not
impress me. It lacked the good
plot and heart that made "Charlie Brown Christmas" and "Great Pumpkin"
classics.

I liked all the Peanuts specials when I was a kid. The Thanksgiving
special was out of the loop for many years, so I'm glad ABC is running it
again, and that they've shown a dedication to these classic holiday
specials.

I've always loved the kitchen cooking scene. And the part where Charlie
Brown gives Franklin the "soul brother" handshake! That's so '70s!

And the fact that Peppermint Patty and Marcie were both voiced by boys!

Well, in the one special Charlie Brown was voiced by a girl.

But isn't that more normal? The reasoning being that girl's voices
don't change when they turn into women.

Schulz didn't like it though. He said that if he'd known in advance
he'd have put a stop to it.

Isn't Bart Simpson voiced by a woman? But of course, that makes more
sense, since her voice sounds more like a ten year old, and she can keep
the voicing job.

Plus she gives great line readings.

They actually used children to voice the Charlie Brown specials,
at least the early ones, and I thought I read or heard (maybe in that
special that was paired with the Christmas one when it moved to ABC)
that using children for the voices was a first, or relatively first,
thing.

And I've always thought it was a dreadful mistake. They don't talk like
little kids talking -- they talk like little kids acting.

But it was on when I was a kid and thus is better than most things made
today. :p

But agreed - it's not as good as Great Pumpkin or Charlie Brown
Christmas.

Leagues beyond any of these newer post-1980 Peanuts specials, though.
