Those weird 'Head-On' commecials

Susan Bartholomew...
Has anybody else seen commercials for this product called 'Head-On'? The
entire thing consists of a woman rubbing what looks like a giant tube of
Chap-Stick on her forehead, with a female voice-over saying:

'Head-On - apply directly to the forehead!
Head-On - apply directly to the forehead!
Head-On - apply directly to the forehead!
Head-On - apply directly to the forehead!'

And they show the product package. And that's it. The whole thing's
about ten seconds long.

No mention at all of what it is, or what it does, though I'm guessing
it's some sort of headache remedy. It's pretty odd in the fact that it's
nothing but the announcer repeating the lines, and it tells you
absolutely nothing about the product, not even what it's for!

Aaron Bergman...
There an article on it here:

Okay, this is a WONDERFUL article. Highly recommended. Thanks!

Susan Bartholomew...
Thanks for the link!! That pretty much sums up the whole thing.

Clever folks, those HeadOn people...

Yes - the commercials are really annoying. What really bugs my wife is
that she bought the stuff and she says it works great for her
headaches, but the commercial makes her not want to buy it. She also

But she did buy it. Please be aware that 'likeability' of an ad is not the
determinant in deciding if it is successful. That is decided by whether or
not the person buys the product. And you wife did buy it.

said it was hard to find a store that carried it. I don't remember
where she finally found it.

Donna B...
I don't recall an annoying ad. Maybe they changed the ads. At any rate when
I first saw it, I knew exactly what it was for but misunderstood how it
worked, but began looking for it. Months later I finally found it - at a
Wal-Mart. Great stuff. I can recommend it. Just don't accidentally get it in
your eyes. That will just make you feel worse.

karl...
Even being hard to find she took the time and effort to track it down and
buy it.

Just an observation...

daveparks_00...
What was the name of the product again? ;-)

pepsi...
NBC nightly news says it's the number one annoying commercial, but
seems to get the message across and is very effective as a commercial.
Most commercials like this make me want to avoid the product.

Arrrggg...
Let's hope it doesn't become a trend in advertizing. Accelerated pre-ad
voiceovers blabbing at 100mph for 5 seconds are enough.

I feel the same way about Chrysler cars right now.

GarondoMarondo...
And they have a sister [roduct for a back or joint reliever that runs
along with the Head-on spots that's just as annoying! I think the
head-on spot's high annoyance factor was the subject of Countdown's
number one story one day this week.
