2.0. The writers committed a mortal sin. They had a protagonist character
agonize over and decide upon an act they found morally repugnant but
necessary, and then had it happen without them having to do it after all.
I'm only ranking this as high as I did because there were some acutal
exciting moments in space, and having PegaSix do the deed was decent
artistic license. *

4 stars - strong writing and acting - combat scenes secondary to
characterization, a plus for the series.

4.5 stars. It would have been five but I didn't like the Star Trek
style '48 hours previously' and something struck me wrong about the
kiss. Sill a great episode!

Yeah like Adama feeling her up. Watch where his arms are.

Not as breath-taking as the first part of the arc but still quite
moving. I even shed a tear or two at the end for all the women
characters who outshone every single male in this episode. A solid 4.5
at least.

Getting a little bored of that, myself. Okay, we get it. They're
strong women. We get it. Women can make the hard decisions. We get
it. Men can be nurturing and supporting. We. Get. It.
Can we stop overcompensating now and allow at least one male character
to do something significant?

I thought Adama did the single, most important thing in
this episode when he decided that having Cain fragged
was the wrong thing to do.
I was a bit surprised. When Cain gave the "don't flinch"
speech to Starbuck, I felt sure that Kara would end up
shooting her, and Cain would egg her on with a defiant,
"Remember what I said about never flinching." But I
guess that's probably what Moore &co. wanted us to
think.

4.0
Justification:
-1 for cringe factor - There is high risk of shark jumpage should this show
turn into a romance between Roslyn and Adama.
Otherwise, one of the best episodes.
For the first time, a space battle was not at the center of the plot for a
sci-fi show. It was background... and like the battle scene at the
beginning of the terminator, it was visually stunning.

I waited until I had both halves on tape. This let me fast forward
through the parts I knew I would find boring, like commercials and
Baltar/6 scenes. Even with that help, 2 is pushing.

3.25
I was somewhat disappointed by the 'easy' outs - no fight between
Galactica and Pegasus, no assassination attempt by the Galacitca
crew, not use of the marines by the Pegasus.
I also found the 'ease' of destroying the Cylon fleet just too much
to take. If two battlestars (between them having perhaps 50% of the
normal complement of Vipers) can make such easy work of two basestars,
scores of raiders and the Resurection ship, and be able to rescue Lee,
all without really working up a sweat, why are they running??? It was
just too easy.
And of course, the setup for a 'miracle' at the end for President
Rosalin. She makes Adama an Admiral (quite predictable) and they talk
about keeping hope. Sounds telegraphed to me.
Still a great show, but this one was weak.

2 stars from me. It just didn't hit any of my emotional buttons and I
was extremely underwhelmed at the space combat.

5.0 I love the way Moore will throw us a curve ball.
