There's something I don't understand.(*)
Why are there two Chiefs in the house. I don't mean Pecher, I mean
the two permanent ones, Perrolli(sp?) and Chief Jerry. Are they of
equal rank, or does Jerry report to Perrolli?

I don't think so -- though I could be wrong, I'm pretty sure we've
seen Perrolli in the kitchen, throwing his weight around, when the
crew was on duty.

Is that it? I'd wondered about it, too. Somehow I'd gotten the
impression, apparently like Stan, that Jerry reported to Perrolli.
So then all the run-around with Probie Mike putting in his transfer
papers with Perrolli instead of Jerry was just to keep Jerry from
knowing he was thinking of transferring?
Stan Brown...

I think he didn't want *anyone* to know, because he expected he'd get
a lot of grief about it.

I don't think so. I've been trying to understand the two chiefs
situation also but Perolli definitely works daytime same as Jerry.
Perolli might be with the usually unseen engine company which shares
the station with truck 62 but it's more likely he's over both. Jerry
and the crew of 62 are definitely under Perolli. Does FDNYC by any
chance not use the rank of captain, making the commanders of truck
crews chiefs instead?

They have captains. It's just FDNY, btw, although the C would help
deferentiate between all the boroughs. But then there's Staten Island.
FDNYSI would just be too much..
