Alan Pollock...
Finally got around to watching this last ep of The Unit. Head and shoulders
above the rest so far. A mile ahead. At last we get some good MametSpeak, good

me...
What is MametSpeak?

tomcervo...
Dialogue minus unnecessary exposition: people talking without
mentioning things that they both know.

me...
Cool

I've noticed the dialogue is VERY "concise" in The Unit

To the point

Is that what you mean?

Alan Pollock...
Tom Cervo *quoted* you mean. Be clear.

Mamet wrote the ep. Nex

me...
Your quoting mechanism is in incorrect form
Your fault not mine

Alan Pollock...
Not mine, the person you were actually quoting. Be clear. Nex

cutting, plot and writing, the works. Well put together and had my interest
the entire time.

My husband loved the show from the pilot. Me, not so much, but it's
grown on me. However, we both agree that "Over There" was a much
better program.

The one aspect we find almost incomprehensible is the adulterous
relationship between the blonde and Robert Patrick. Hubby wants me to
explain her behavior, but I don't have a clue. Her comment about his
loving her more than his hobby just didn't fly with us.

Richard Ellis...
Yes, we agree. Mostly I wonder how such a dedicated, hard-ass soldier
like him would allow himself to be caught up in an affair which could
kill them both and/or ruin "his" Unit. He has been characterized by the
writers as single-minded when it comes to the protection and well-being
'his men'.

Surely there are other off-base babes for him (in the writers'
imaginations). One thing for certain - the situation, howsoever
unlikely, most certainly adds tension to the home-front script!

It wasn't pretentious or overly-dramatic, nor was it show-offy complex. And
they got the languages right, far as I could tell.

This week's ep was what TV *could* be. And it wasn't even such a big deal,
which is kinda the point. Nex

I was iffy on the pilot. The bits of the second & third I saw were
mediocre. There were a lot of plot points that made me cringe along with a
general disinterest in the Desperate Housewives soap opera side of the show
that caused me to not make much of a point in watching it. I take Scrubs or
Nova re-runs over it.

I'll give it another chance in the summer reruns.

me...
Agree

I REALLY like The Unit
