"CBS kicked off the night at 8 p.m. with a 4.7/10 for "48 Hours
Mystery." FOX edged into second with a 3.7/8 for the NASCAR coverage,
while ABC tailgated with a 3.6/7 for its first hour of "Pretty Woman."
Alas, NBC's "Celebrity Cooking Showdown" week-long stunt, which
couldn't take the primetime heat and was pulled from the schedule
before being dumped on Saturday's lineup, only scored a 1.8/4."
At 9 o'clock, the romantic comedies on CBS and ABC tied with a 4.6/9

If you really want to know whom to blame, I'll tell you: It was created
by Sean Combs and Ben Silverman.
Silverman had noticed that competitive cooking shows are profitable for

"hit" is a relative term; the Food Network is happy to get ratings that
would cause any broadcast network to cancel the show.)
And Sean Combs was interested because he personally owns two restaurants.

last two episodes of a show that was already doing miserably in a
two-hour block when they've could've easily tripled their ratings with
the usual L&O repeats instead? The programming ineptness here makes
ABC's aimless bumbling and stumbling of a few years ago look like
brilliant strategic moves by comparison. Will NBC sink any lower? I
predict its feebly-conceived summer lineup will prove that it will.
Let's see, last summer it averaged a 4.3 over a 16-week period. Any
bets that it'll be lucky to even get anywhere near a 4 this summer?
