Source for this? Not that it would be surprising. And really, I would
prefer thirteen episodes with a solid wrap up (I doubt NBC will air all
thirteen, though) to a full season that ends without any resolution.

of the other "entangled mystery" shows. So why did people so roundly

It may have been screwed by the fact that "Vanished" premiered an
entire month ahead of it. Of the people who were only going to
bother watching one serial about a kidnapping, a lot of them would
already have made their decision before "Kidnapped" ever aired.
