Any effort that has as its premise the idea that people are not swayed by
ideology seems rather sophomoric. Apart form this rather weak start, is the
rest any good? Or is it all rather obvious (i.e. gov't scares people so
people need gov't)?

it was on CBC newsworld at least twice... VERY interesting, but a lot of
it was already pretty well evident. I didn't know it wasn't being aired
in the US. Not surprising. Gee... it's a good thing there's no state-run
censorship in the US, like there is in those Axis of Evil countries.

There is no censorship. Any of the news channels like CNN or FoxNews,
or even History Channel are free to air this documentary anytime they
want.
