Boothbay...
CBS has mentioned that they are putting this show on hiatus...next
step? Cancel.

evwill...
"Smith" is already cancelled, CBS just won't use that word.

David...
Though it's still in production for some reason.

bob smith...
Thats good news. They may decide to finish it up for a DVD box set.

I enjoyed the show but I had trouble envisioning how it could go on beyond
a season anyways.

jayembee...
Warner Bros (the production studio) might need to do so in order to
fulfill contracts with other markets (such as Channel 4 in Britain).
Or perhaps they believe it'll be better for DVD sales to have more
episodes on hand.

GarondoMarondo...
I think the person that mentioned Ray Liotta's horrible facelift might
have been on to something in the network's shabby treatment while junk
like Numbers, Ghost Whisperer art still on the air. Looking at the
second its quite noticable that the camera almost never stays on his
face for more than a few seconds and when it does there's some kind of
strange lighting effect used to blur the image. He really is kind of
frightening looking right now.

bklyntv...
His face appears to me to be suffering from the effects of a bad
chemical or laser peel. It's shiny and has an orange-peel texture.

bklyntv...
I said orange-peel texture, not orange tone. My HD set's fine.

And yes, CBS owns Showtime, it would be great if they picked it up, but
it probably won't happen now. Showtime wouldn't want to be know as the
pay cable that brings you shows you on free broadcast.

David...
It'd be smart of Showtime to pick up series discarded by the networks
since they have built-in audiences and Showtime's threshold of success
is only something like 800,000 viewers.

Robin Miller...
Something I've never understood: Why would CBS schedule repeats of other
shows rather than using up episodes of Smith that are already recorded
and paid for? Does CBS think it can make more money by showing those eps

David...
CBS has also already paid the studio to show each episode of "CSI"
three times, so whether they decide to air "Smith" or a "CSI" rerun
they'll be airing something they already paid for. So it comes down to
which will get better ratings, and it's likely the "CSI" rerun.

for the first time in another venue or medium?

bklyntv...
maybe they can get higher rating and advertiser rates with a proven
show, like CSI. Talent and other people may have their salaries
affected by whether or not an episode actually airs (get paid less if
it gets canned).

It would've been much better suited to Showtime though.

..
Garondo Marondo!

Pidge...
Yep.
Hiatus = Cancelled
