Maelstrom Coming!! Ron Moore Talks About What's Ahead For The Balance
of GALACTICA 3.X!!

I am - Hercules!!

Some excerpts from Maureen Ryan's new interview with "Galactica"
showrunner Ron Moore and and producer David Eick in the Chicago
Tribune:

What happens to [Kara "Starbuck"] Thrace "will jump out and grab
you," Moore says.

Hobart Floyt...
The only thing that "will jump out and grab [me]"
is Kara being spaced and the call sign is reassigned
to an older male pilot with blond hair, a sense of
humour and who loves the ladies...oh, yeah,
and played by Dirk Benedict.

... after the March 4 episode airs, the name of a major cast member
will disappear from the show's opening credits.

Moore adds that after the March 4 episode airs, the name of a major
cast member will disappear from the show's opening credits. They
won't say whether Sackhoff's name is the one that goes missing. But

Ian Galbraith...
We can only hope.

[snip]

they do make clear that what happens to Starbuck points the way to a
major shift in the show's direction. "It's a fundamental and
permanent change in the makeup of the show's cast and of the show
itself and how the show operates and what the show is about. It's a
very dramatic change of direction," Moore says.

Citroen...
No no no no no

Moore could not have said that because I have been told that this
pattern with Starbuck exist only in my mind. It *can't* be real.
Anyone who claims they see it too must also be a figment of my
imagination.

Obveeus...
Since the quote you quoted mentions no 'pattern', using the quote as proof
of something that exists in your own mind is pretty weak.

Citroen...
You toss the word 'proof' around like you don't know what it means.

For all you know, they will have Starbuck's character get pregnant and quit
the military. Then, everyone will realize that 'survival' means breeding,
so all women will be pitched out of military duty and told to make babies.

Citroen...
We will see soon enough.

Dropping The Helicopter...
So he's going to destroy the show. Guess it had to happen eventually:
Once you get that Star Trek:non-TOS stink on you you just can't get it
off. Well, got a couple good seasons out of it anyway.

Hobart Floyt...
Wasn't there rumours about Olmos leaving? So Lee gets
his father's command and Kara Thrace. Big deal.

It's not a big surprise if Moore has actually run out
of "shocking new directions" and had to go back
to traditional writing techniques like foreshadowing.

And I don't know "what the show is about" other than
FUBARing the 1978 series.

Other tidbits:

* The third-season finale will be a cliffhanger "which they say will
once again take the show in a shocking new direction."

Ian Galbraith...
Gosh what a surprise. Why not rely on good writing rather than tricks.

Citroen...
Moore always makes them cliffhangers look worse than they are. I'm
sure this one will look hopeless.

* There will be a trial of Baltar.

Citroen...
You can't prosecute a machine.

* There will be standalone episodes about Tyrol's labor issues and Bill
Adama's ex-wife.

Citroen...
That should be interesting.

* The producers confirm some of what we've heard about a possible
"Galactica" straight-to-DVD movie that would be shot between seasons
three and four, but say it will not be linked to the proposed "Caprica"
spinoff. Eick says it could "return a very popular character."

Ellen? Kat? Boxey?

Daffy Duck...
Who's *very* popular?

rspwgga...
Boxey's daggit?

Stephen Fairchild...
Sergeant Hadrian. LOL

Shelley Godfrey reappears?

Boomer returns to the humans?

Most likely it will be Bulldog.

sarah.lynn1...
Dirk Benedict? :-)

Kevin...
Don't be surprised. You may be more accurate than you know.

sarah.lynn1...
Ha! It was the first thing I thought of when I saw "very popular
character." That would be fantastic!

cloud dreamer...
I wanna see them bring back Lorne Greene. Now that would be something to
see...

Stephen Fairchild...
Was he buried or cremated?

Dropping The Helicopter...
O. M. G. That would totally RULE.

Citroen...
Oh it would have to be Boxey. Let's all chant "Bring back Boxey"!
:-p
