Happy to see Alias back.
Not much really happening in Part 1.

4.5. The CIA break in scenes were really fun.

Not exactly perfect but a pretty good caper and both storylines held
my attention.

I'm completely not getting what either of those LotR references have to
do with anything. What am I missing?
Anyway, I'm kind of forgetting where the episode break was... I know it
was before Irina showed up to ice the evil director guy, but I forget
what exactly happened before that. Syd had already been rescued, right?
Assuming so:
I noticed that when the tac team (or whatever Alias calls them; I've
been watching 24 too much) landed on the cargo ship, there was a
*moving* spotlight on them. They didn't seem to take much cover,
instead moving (while crouching slightly) rather slowly across the
exposed area. I didn't have a problem with the upper decks being
deserted, but even if the spotlight hadn't been moving (and I'm
positive it was), the fact is that they were illuminated and exposed
anyway and not being very careful about finding cover. Sloppy
direction.
Interesting that Grace was suddenly revealed as a double-agent. I'm not
saying he's a bad guy yet, because so far they're not *quite* casting
him in that light. He has another agenda, but once Alias actually
reveals a character to have alternate loyalties, they usually make it
much more clear which side they're on. Not that that's necessarily true
here. Personally, I think Tom is too likeable to be made into a "bad
guy" per se. He'd be much more effective as a "good guy" working for
someone else...
The CIA break-in was fun, and I've always like Weiss, but the way he
was brought in seemed forced. Still, a fun sequence. And Dixon's line
to "Hamlet" telling him to tone it down was great!
I liked when Jack confronted the directors, but since Jack doesn't have
Alpha-Black clearance, how is it he can be in charge of an organization
that seems to be classified A-B? I guess clearances in the Alias world
dosn't work the same as in the real world... For Jack (being
lower-ranked?) to be able to call a meeting of some of the
highest-ranking men in the CIA with no explanation also seemed a little
Joseph...

Found the answer from TV Squad. The reason he is so familiar is he has
been on West Wing a bunch recently. From that lead, I found the actor is
John Aylward and he was in the second episode of Alias.

Well, she did deliver the baby. So she did temporarily put that above
her escape. She's bad, she's good, she's good but bad, she's bad but
good.

odd, but I'll buy it, I guess.
I'll give it a 4.
