On Demand episodes of Brotherhood and Monk ahead of schedule

I was flipping through my cable On Demand menus, and I noticed that
_Brotherhood_ Episode 1 is already available on Showtime On Demand.
(It's not scheduled for broadcast until Sat, 9-Jul.)

While flipping, the loud On Demand promo voice mentioned that _Monk_
Season 5 Episode 1 is also available now on USA On Demand. (It's not
scheduled for broadcast until Fri, 7-Jul.)

No. Like he said, it's not airing until Friday.

The reason I ask is, my DVR is set to record 'first run' eps of both,
and it's not lighting up for the Friday shows; it's seeing them as
encores. I thought maybe I missed a first run this last weekend or
something. I'll grab 'em with manual override. Thanks!

Strange, because USA doesn't usually mark their encores as "Rerun", so
none of the episodes (including the marathon tomorrow) are listed as
reruns on my DVR.

(I have Comcast, but I suspect it's the same for Showtime and USA On
Demand from any provider.)

It's probably a one-shot deal. HBO has occasionally done the same
thing with selected episodes of their various series. For example,
the third episode of ROME was available via On Demand the day after
the second episode aired on HBO, but wasn't aired on HBO until the
following week.
