The Cutting Edge: Going For The Gold: Fake Olympic Athletes

In this movie, a champion figure skater named Jackie Dorsey decides to
switch to pairs, so she advertises for a partner. Several candidates
audition, including a black man who dances around and around her. Then
a man named Alex Harrison shows up. He had met her on a beach some
months before, and began ice skating after seeing her press conference.
In only 3 months from a standing start, he had become good enough to
begin practicing with Jackie. Alex and Jackie win at the regionals and
nationals, and qualify for the 2006 U.S. Olympic Team, leading to
several scenes of them competing at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino!
However, when I searched the web for under 2006 Winter Olympic Figure Skating, I did
not find either Alex or Jackie listed as pairs figure skaters! What is
the ABC Family Channel trying to pull, inventing Olympic athletes out of
thin air!

Aside from the fake Olympic athletes, it was an excellent movie.

Great moments: Alex learning to skate as some kids snicker.

Alex and Jackie practicing while tied together. Jackie's parents had
decided to tie them together until they learned to cooperate. How did
they go to the bathroom?

Alex and Jackie tied together on the ice, and Jackie running after her
parents, causing them to fall.

Alex and Jackie tied together on the couch while watching a movie, and
falling when Alex tried to get up.

The many falls of Alex and Jackie.

Jackie declaring to a closed door that she loves Alex, unaware that his
fiancé Heidi is listening! When Alex (also in the room) asks Heidi who
was at the door, she tries to convince him that it was the maid, but he
sees through her lie, realizes that he loves Jackie, and decided to dump
Heidi.

Alex telling Jackie during their free skate program that he loves her,
and Jackie saying that the answer is "Yes" (before he had gotten around
to asking the question!).
