Since MyNetworkTV is failing (only 0.7% of homes are watching) maybe
another idea to improve their ratings is to concentrate on miniseries
instead of telenovels.

I just finished watching the 13-episode long Kidnapped, Vanished, and
halfway through Daybreak. These are REALLY good stories with a
beginning, middle, and end. Like watching a novel.

Those shows are expensive to produce, with high production values. Much
too expensive for a struggling little network like MyNetwork with
affiliates who get relatively cheap advertisers.

WZMY-50, the MyNetwork affiliate where I live, has cheap advertisers
like local car dealerships and telephone date lines. They couldn't
generate enough ad revenue to pay for a show as expensive as Daybreak,
Kidnapped, Vanished, etc.

The telenovelas that MyNetwork puts out have cheap production values,
such as one-take filming, simple sets, and no special effects.

Use the same techniques for the weekly 13 or 22-episode miniseries as
they use for the daily telenovels. It will be cheap.

Everything I've heard about VANISHED (as regards the unaired eps)
is that the one thing it definitely does not have is an ending.

Reporter...
How are you halfway through Daybreak? I can only find the first six

fred_h_haddad...
You're anal-retentive. The difference between 13/2 == 6.5 and 6
episodes is trivial.

Loosen up.

jayembee...
Well, six *is* (just about) half of thirteen.

hours on ABC.com.

So maybe instead of producing looooooooooong (and rather boring)
65-part telenovels, MNT could focus on producing 25-part stories.
Audiences might be more willing to tune in for a story that only
requires 1 hour per week. MNT could fill in any open slots with
repeats of that week's new episodes (in case you missed it the first
time) and older miniseries like Roots.

As it stands now I'm already
only watching one hour per week
- the Saturday recap of Desire.
I can't devote the full five hours every week.
(Probably the same is true for other viewers)

P.S.

Will the series Desire/Fashion House be released to DVD? They would
require 13 discs which is alot but doable. I wouldn't mind rewatching
Desire (I like mafia tales).
