This episode was almost entirely pretty unengaging filler.
But it gets a couple points for at least not ruining anything.
For example, it keeps Adama's character consistent.
He's still perfectly willing to just clam up and unapologetically
keep secrets to himself.

One little point--it shows the specific fate of D'Anna
Biers, which apparently takes place before the
Resurrection Ship was destroyed. I guess it must

Guess you missed the 11/03 and 11/10 episodes. There's more than one
Resurrection Ship.

have taken place after Starbuck first returned with
Helo and Sharon. Sharon, of course, would have
been familiar with the D'Anna model, but she wasn't
being cooperative about identifying Cylons.
Presumably, Starbuck and/or Helo had seen D'Anna
models on Caprica.

As long as the Cylons 'need' humans to work out the kinks in their breeding
program, they want as much 'sympathy' as they can get. They want the humans
as divided amongst themselves as possible so that some humans(like Helo)
will be willing to accept them and breed with them). If it was *only* about
genocide, they would have blown up Galactica in the last episode, not
dropped off Bulldog in Galactica's lap.

3 stars if the plotline is standalone.

4.5 stars if they follow all this stuff up in subsequent episodes. I'm
inclined to think they will.

3.0.

Points for minimal Starbuck and Apollo.

Points for bringing Tigh back from the brink.

However, the last couple of episodes have been extremely episodic - and
a bit unfocused - in nature . BSG does better when it is following a
story arc. This episode, in particular, seemed a bit cliched.

And the D'anna sub-plot was completely out of place. I know they're
heading somewhere with it, but it was just strange.

Baltar's getting double doses - a bit of Xena to go with his Caprica.

I didn't see any lube around.

4.5. I bet we haven't seen the last of Bulldog.

Those who've followed David Eick's vidcast know so.

Woulda been a 3 if Roslyn hadn't illuminated Adama about how it was more
than one little act that triggered the massacre. Then it would have just
another, "it's not them, it's us" aka "we have seen the enemy and it is us"
storyline ala "Meltdown", 2010: A SPACE ODYSSEY, STAR TREK's "The Ultimate
Computer".

While not an invalid plot or theme, the scale in this case, the massacre of
a dozen worlds for essentially trespassing ... a wee ... bit of an
overreaction.
