How The Networks Are Cutting Reruns This Season

With scripted serials, reruns of old episodes are jarring. So here's
what the networks are doing this season to minimize reruns:

ABC: "Lost" is returning October 4 for 6 all-new episodes, then going
on hiatus (during which time "Day Break" will replace it for 13
episodes); and after that "Lost" will return for the rest of season with
all-new episodes.

NBC: "ER" is likewise going to have a block of all-new episodes,
followed by a tryout of "Black Donnellys"; after which "ER" will return
for the rest of season with all-new episodes.

Fox: "24" will continue its straight-thru scheduling.

MyNetwork: The network is promising that "Desire" (and probably its
other serials) will air with no repeats. How to satisfy viewers who
can't watch all five episodes of a stripped show each week? The network
is also promising that the plot arcs will be structured so that you can
miss any two of the five episodes each week and not miss all that much.

Many local station managers or owners have children who can be held
hostage. Problem solved.

We watched the sneak premieres. We watched the MYTVNETWORK special. We
went through the online guide to see what MYTV showed the rest of the
week. We removed it from the dial.

Yay! Veronica Mars is on another channel now! Whooo-hoooooo!
