Was the vacation photo supposed to be real or faked? Did Jan in fact
really go to Jamaica with Michael? He had previously faked a ski photo
with that other woman.

At first I wasn't sure either (for the reason you mention) but as the show
went on I became convinced the writers meant it to be real. Plus in the
previous episode we'd seen him on the phone getting a surprise acceptance by
a woman of his invitation to accompany him -- but we didn't know who. So we
know he apparently did go with a woman.

It was obviously Jan, she and Carol are the only ones to have shown any
interest in Michael, it wouldn't have been someone unknown.

Why was Pam crying so hard? Just because Karen moved a little closer
to Jim (literally)?

And why did she do it publicly in a place where someone like Dwight could
see her? Go to the ladies room and do it quietly in a stall. I mean like
totally losing it in public like that is not something most people want to
be seen doing. And most people can control it long enough to get some
privacy. The way this show is going I could see her falling for Dwight
now -- the man who gave her comfort in her time of sadness.
I think the writers of this show need to take a few steps back and
reevaluate what they are doing.

I took it as the photo being real, and yes, Pam was upset over the
Karen/Jim thing taking a step closer.

I thought he had Photoshopped it initially but as the show went on it

No it wasn't obvious. Why couldn't it have been someone new? Don't be so
senselessly argumentative.

became clear she had been there. And apparently didn't get the email
he sent around; that'll probably rear it's ugly head next week.
Pam was crying for the reason you mentioned and because Jim really
didn't come back as he was when he left (so she's lost him a bit). I
loved Dwights assessment of why she was crying: PMS.
