"House" and "Standoff" won't return until Oct 31 because of the
playoffs. I guess it's a good move on FOX's part.

Wow, you're showing unusual confidence in Standoff's fate.

Come, now, it was put on hiatus for a good reason. Fox has faith. And
so should we. Remember how Fox stood by Reunion last season? Yeah?
Remember that? Hrm?

Aside from the baseball playoffs, "Reunion" aired continuously until
mid-December. How exactly was it mistreated?

They should just air the show in the markets where there are no
baseball playoffs for the most part no one really cares about BB unless
their team is playing.

The baseball playoffs were the mistreatment. It aired three times, was
off for a month, came back, and Fox was surprised viewers forgot about
it?

What a bunch of weenies. I LIKE baseball.
Though I don't much care for FOX's version of broadcasting it. And
cablecasts are fine, but it is in MLB's interest to show the league
playoffs and the World Series via OTA stations, so everybody, not just
cable subscribers, can see them. As it is, ESPN carries some of the
playoff games.
The networks are convinced that the promos they air during the
postseason games will help them draw audiences down the road. The
attraction of the games to the young, male demo* also screws up the
competition. If the Mets are playing the Phillies for the NL crown on
FOX, you know I'll be watching, and only recording the shows on
competing channels that I normally follow. If that's on a night I
don't normally watch FOX, I may wind up passing on some shows I
would've checked out on another web.

* I know, baseball is also popular with women. I have a sister who is
a fanatic for the sport.

Personally, after the first 2 episodes, I'm thinking they should be worried
about "House" as well. Sad to say, I may not come back.

I feel the way bj feels. I didn't finish the second ep of HOUSE, and
didn't bother to record the third. It's an okay show, but it's become
as predictably procedural as CSI, which I don't watch either.

Ahh, but you're missing the bulk of the young teen stalker plotline...

Unlike CSI, House has interesting characters. And Greg House is the
only really unlikable character on House, and he's supposed to be
unlikable. There are no likable characters on CSI.
Kate...
|
Cameron is deeply, creepily unlikeable, and Wilson is becoming so.
He's become meddling and manipulative.
Keith Baird...
|
In fairness, the secondary characters need to get a *little* development
overtime to maintain interest. Wilson may be House's only friend in the
world, but that doesn't mean he's only a volleyball.
|
I like Greg House much more than I like either of them, myself.
Ian Galbraith...
|
Me too although I do like Cameron's development. Its fascinating to see a
character with a deliberate excess of compassion and the effects.

I used to watch (only) CSI: HORATIO, but I find I like STUDIO 60. I'm
not watching much of what I record, and I find the clunky
overexposition on the CSI shows so maddening, I think of the tape as
something I _have_ to watch rather than something I _want_ to watch.
David Caruso and the look of :MIAMI used to make it all worthwhile, but
I haven't watched either ep this year.

Really?
I've been absolutely loving "House." Ratings have been pretty good, too.
chicagofan...
|
Right now, it's still OK; but not the show I loved initially. I think there
may be too many shows I have to tape this season that interest me more,
which could push "House" out of my available hours. I watch too much TV as
it is. ;)
