How bad is it elsewhere?
The theme of monopoly. Lumic is in control of Communications.
He uses that power to take control of lives on parallel
Earth. IS he in abuse of such power?

Peter Morris...
First he takes the power, then the water company, then the stations

Apparently they don't have anti-trust laws.

BTW we do have a couple monopolies on our earth - government
monopolies. Like National Gov't Healthcare in UK and Canada.

solar penguin...
I don't know about Canada, but the UK's National Health Service is _not_
a monopoly. It exists alongside many different private medicine
services.

doctor...
Canada 'by law' is strictly public.

How is the lack of choice a good solution?

doctor...
It is not. And sometimes that state does have to intervene to
break it up.

telenovels...
Maybe "the state" should break up the Healthcare monopoly in Canada and

Diane L...
I hate to mention annoying little facts, but you've already been told
that there *is* no healthcare monopoly in the UK.

doctor...
It did in Canada and now we have Medicare.

Not being British, but being aware that the UK had a governnment run
health care system, I was surprised to discover that their actually
a private choice as well. I remember a Benny Hill skit where
Benny is going to the private facility where the "old guy" is going to
the public health care facility. Old guy gets abused and gets minimal
care while Benny gets pampered and spoiled. At the end of the skit, it
turns out Benny is a miserable pauper who'll have to work off his bill
forever and old guy is a millionare who was trying to save his money!

UK.
