ABC Gives 'The Evidence' Final Run on Saturdays

Good: At least ABC is giving us burn-off, which is more than I can say
for some other networks ( NBC! ).

Bad: Burn-off on *Saturdays* at 10pm?! They might as well not even
bother...

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC is bringing back its
short-lived drama "The Evidence" as the series will rejoin the
network's schedule this Saturday at 10:00/9:00c.

"The Evidence" will take over for "Grey's Anatomy," which was set to
air repeats in the slot for the next three weeks.

Too bad they didn't do this for Eyes.

shawn...
I think they should do it for every show that gets canceled before
airing all of the episodes they have in the can. After all they have
already paid for the episodes and they tend to have nothing worth

David...
They've also already paid to run each episode of "Grey's Anatomy"
three times. Either way they're leaving money on the table.

Then I guess they might as well go with whatever draws the highest
ratings.

The real answer to that is reruns of "episodic" series (e.g. the CSIs
and the L&Os, etc.), unfortunately.

But, after that, if the choice is reruns of "continuity" series (of
which GA would be one), or airing unaired episodes of 'burn-off' series,
I actually think the networks could draw higher ratings with the latter,
*provided* that they promote them properly and air them in such a way
that they're not sabotaging them (e.g. airing a show on a Saturday
pretty much counts as "sabotage" in my book - the way I'd do it IMO is
put all the original 'burn-off' shows on one single night (e.g.
Tuesdays), and promote is as "an entire night with original programming,
all summer long!").

But the nets don't get it - they'd much rather go with 'one off' (and
pretty much forgettable) reality shows, and reruns of both episodic &
continuity series (the latter of which rerun *terribly* in the ratings).
Even ABC is only half-heartedly airing its burn-off shows.

watching on Saturday night so why shouldn't the networks shows the
unaired episodes? Especially on during the summer when they show very
little new faire.

Among the previously unaired episodes set to broadcast - "Yi vs. Li"
(June 10), "Wine and Die" (June 17) and "Stringers" (June 24). A
fourth shelved installment is also believed to be airing on July 1.

The series, which spelled "Invasion" for four weeks this past spring,
averaged a modest 7.87 million viewers and 3.0 rating/8 share among
adults 18-49 during its brief run.

Originally given a 13-episode order, an ABC spokesperson confirmed in
March that its order was trimmed to six installments (read the story).
However, in light of these scheduling updates, it seems said cut was
actually made to eight episodes.
