OSCARS Not LIVE !

I always thought the Academy Awards were LIVE (happening at that exact
moment) but there were at least 2 curse words Silenced out last night
during the East Coast telecst.

I've see/hear this done all the time during other Awards telecast like
the Grammy's, etc.

Can anyone else elaborate on this?

Are they LIVE or perhaps a few minutes ahead to where they are
practically LIVE or what?

What he would have said about an eight second delay for network
censorship, I don't know.

The program was broadcast with an 8 to 10 second delay.
This delay is sufficient to delete inappropriate language or lyrics.

Most everything that is "live" is on a 3 second delay. Like radio.

I doubt there has been a single live broadcast on network TV since the
Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction.

And when there are rappers performing and nominated for an award, you
*know* they're going to delay it.
