Will not be seen this week; stay tuned for yet another lame American
Idol/Rockstar (fill in the blank) talent show. Granted, we'll probably
cancel this one next week and will resume offering bonus airings of
Project Runway to those who don't have access to Bravo if we feel like
it.
Why do the networks do that? Don't they have backup repeats of Earl or
The Office they can play instead of starting a "contest" show, hooking
people and then dropping it?? Do they really think the viewers who
tuned in for Project Runway won't change the channel when they realize
it's not on afterall? Not everyone has access to Bravo either due to
location or perhaps their cable company.

What are you talking about? American Idol & Rockstar & Project Runway &
Earl are all on different networks so the cancelation of any one of
those shows has zilch effect on the others.

NBC played the first 2 episodes of this season's Project Runway for the
past 2 Monday nights. It was great for those who don't have Bravo for
whatever reason. Tonight NBC is premiering: "Star Tomorrow" which is
"similar" to American Idol and RockStar (fill in the blank). You
apparently didn't "read" the message or you'd get it. I wasn't talking
about cancelling any of those shows. I was saying instead of
"starting" a contest show on NBC (Project Runway) they could have
filled the time with one of their existing shows like Earl or The
Office.

I did read it, your message was unclear. I didn't realize NBC had been
rerunning Project Runway on NBC (they are owned by the same parent
company, so it makes sense). (your subject line isn't exactly clear NBC
episode 3? huh?)
I'm guessing they figure (correctly) that Earl's appeal in reruns is
maxed out. They started the summer running 2 and 3 episodes on a
Thursday night. Contractually, they are limited in how many times they
can run each episode as well.

What's not clear with this subject line: Re: NBC Episode 3 of Project
Runway tonight ? NBC did something similar (though it's not a contest)
with Queer Eye a couple of years ago, too, by replaying the previous
week's epsiode for broadcast viewers for about 3 weeks. The overall
point was "if you started watching Project Runway on NBC the past 2
Mondays, it won't be on due to the premiere of Star Tomorrow". And
Earl was just a handy program to use as a suggestion; it could be
Bloopers and Practical Jokes, it would have served the same purpose.
