I just refreshed my zap2it old style listing and the new grid came
up.Trying to type in the old grid URL ives me the new grid. Is zap2it

That happened to me a few days ago and I panicked for a minute, but
then was able to get the old grid back. I may have had to quit and
relaunch my browser.

It's on the verge of no longer being worth it. The 'wish list' on their
feedback page has some of the features that are currently not in the new
grid, but I don't know whether/when they plan to implement those features.
If they'll allow me to display custom channels (any number; not just 30),
and retain the current search functions (not just show title), I'll be okay.

no longer worth it? I used it for satellite (C-band,4DTV) listings but
if I'm stuck with the new grid I need to find another source (if there is

People periodically report that their listing spontaneously changed to
the new format, but I just tested it and I'm still getting the old
format. Can you find an option for it in the "Customization" page?

Not I. Since last week I've been stuck with the new format and I can't
find a way to get it back. I've ended up using titanTV quite a bit
since then because I can't stand the new format. I even sent them
email about the change, but never heard back from them. I asked it
they would provide a way for us to choose between format, but no luck.

You still get the old-style zap2it listing at

July 28, which was the last time I checked.) I think you have to
enable cookies and customize your listings if you want it to
remember your zip code from one visit to the next, though.

Excellent! I see that still works. I also notice that it is pointing
to a different server. When I use the old server (tvlistings2) it
sends me to the new server (tvlistings5) which has only the new format
available. It looks like the LA Times site is pointing to tvlistings4
so it should be possible to go there directly. I know that should work
since I logged in using my existing zap2it login.

This still works:
I'm also using the latest Firefox build, along with the AdBlock
and NoScript extensions. I specifically allow a Zap2It cookie,
else I'd have to reset my listings preferences everytime I visited
the site. It also helps to allow scripts, at least temporarily.

That's the link I've been using, on Firefox without any extensions.
Maybe the browser that's used is the difference...

Well I'm using Firefox for a long time. I do use some extensions but
they aren't set to block anything for Zap2it. At least with the
TVlistings4 site I can bring up the old listings.

When looking at the new grid, there is a message that asks if
you want to see the old listing. With my browser settings, it
seems to be blocked unless I mouse over the "blank" space
where I expected it to be - on the right side of the page, just
above the grid, below the "print" icon.

Ahhh, yes, in the white space just below Favorites and Print. Watch for
the hand....

Ah, cool. That works. Nothing like having unlabeled buttons on the
page that do things many people want to do. Where do the web designers
come up with these ideas?
CharlesM...

It works for me too! What were they thinking with hidding this!?
suzee...

That people would be forced to use the new format and then they'd
discontinue the old one because no one was using it....?
Though Kevrob's explanation may be very likely. Some people pay no
attention to browser besides IE.

My guess is that the site is optimized for IE and they haven't got
around to making it friendly for Mozilla-style browsers.
I'm not a web designer, but I gather that is is good practice to make
your page equally legible to all the popular browsers. Of course,
not all designers follow such practices. I'd go check to see if Zap2It
looks better when accessed by Explorer, but I only use that piece
of insecure garbage when I'm loading a Microsoft page, nowadays.

No, I tried IE as well as others. They were all screwed up. As some people
seem to have no problem getting to the old grid,I wonder what it is that
triggers problems. I was OK untill I did a refresh on the old grid (which
I've done many times in the past with no problems). But the last time, new
grid showed up and stayed, no matter what.
