Nancy2...
Well, Nina the Grouch and Michael and Zak Posen all agreed that
Vincent's design on last night's show was out of proportion and the
skirt should have been longer. Huh. Take a look at picture # 3 out of
10 at the USA Today website, photos of NY Fashion Week -

I guess only the "top" designers can get away with bad proportions. I
thought Uli should have been kicked off instead of Vincent. (I loved
Laura's dress and am glad she got it right.)

bklyntv...
it's a completely different silo, the dress you're pointing to is poufy
and blousy, V's was tight.

And besides, there's no garantee that the judges wouldn't have also
dislilked the dress you're comparing to Vs.

I can't believe anyone is actually defending the talent-free hack that
is Vincent. He's the worst designer of the season, no competition.

Nancy2...
You make valid points - however, he won one challenge - Angela is the
worst designer of the bunch.

shawn...
Look at #7. Looks like someone was stealing Uli's use of extra
material.

Nancy2...
Yup, I made that point earlier in my second post. Not only the thing
around her neck, but look at the sleeve length!

Nancy2...
I hate to follow up my own posts, but further, take a look at # 7 in
that bunch of photos - sleeves exactly like Uli's, along with the
twisted stuffed thing around her neck. Coincidence? I guess the
judges were wrong, too, about the sleeve length of Uli's dress.

trike...
I can't believe I'm posting about this show, but the wife watches it,
so I do, too.

One thing I found interesting is that the designers seem to mostly take
all the credit or all the blame for their designs. The woman who won
was specifically praised for the "youthful" look of her dress, but the
reason it looked that way was because her model suggested changes to
_make_ it more youthful. But did the designer share credit? Nope.

Similarly, the "out of proportion" thing was a result of him having to
use a giant-sized model as opposed to the original one who got sick,
but he never commented on that. (At least I didn't hear him do so.)

Almost all of the designs are ludicrous, except for the black guy's.
(I have a problem remembering names, and for a show that I only
half-watch, knowing their names just isn't going to happen.) The guy
with the ridiculous tattoos is a one-trick pony. He won the "rock
star" design contest, but everything he does is that same "rock star"
look. His design this week was utterly bizarre, like he just threw
together an outfit because the pieces were the right color, not because
it had a design theory behind it.

Some of the things the judges say are right on the money, but some are
bizarre. Who cares what's stuffed into the handbag? The model isn't
going to open it and show everyone as she struts down the runway. It's
irrelevant to the design, and should be irrelevant to the judging.

bklyntv...
I don't think it's irrelevant to the judging since part of the
challenge was to USE ALL THE FABRIC. that made it harder, both Uli and
Vincents' looks were better without the accessories they were forced to
make.

But Angela essentially cheated on that part of the challenge, I was
glad judges called her on it.

trike...
Ah, okay. Retracted. I was in and out of the room dealing with dog
stuff, and I only pay partial attention when I'm in the room, anyway.
(I'm always asking the missus what's going on.)

She was the one designed the "French Maid in Spaaaace" look, right?
That thing was just wacky.

Wow, that was way more than I expected to type. I'm surprised to find
myself with an opinion on this. Clearly I watch too much TV....
