Just finished watching the original movie which I had on my DVR for a
few weeks and forgot there was a Fox TV show based on the movie and a
number of TV movies. How were they?

It was an excellent series, but the TV movies declined rapidly in
quality.
|
And did they ever show/contact the aliens who created the "Newcomers"?
Beowulfie...
|
Ok, if you've never seen any of the series or the made for tv movies
after the series you should check out the series. It is on dvd and imho
it is a very good show and is one of those cult classic tv shows.

It was an excellant show but they never did reveal their creators.
Nearest thing was overseers.

No, but there was a close call in which their ship was spotted passing
through our solar system in one of the TV movies. IIRC, the Overseeers
were attempting to send them a message.

The series was excellent. The first two tv movies were good.

the movie sucked and the TV sucked even worse.

Yes, IAWTP. I enjoyed it very much and while the movie combo of
Caan/Patinkin was excellent, the tv pair was amazingly good too!
I still every once in a while sing out loud "Sam Francisco, open your
golden gate..."
No one gets it :(

I *love* that scene. Keep singing it. SOMEbody will get it.
Goro...
|
Oh waite. I think I may be misremembering that scene. Is it "Sam
Francisco..." or is it "George Francisco....?" IIRC, didn't James Caan
rename him to George from Sam? *shrug* maybe THAT'S why no one gets
it....! :)
redsurf...
|
Well, now I have to rent it. Because it is George. I would've
laughed anyway.....
Beowulfie...
|
I remember that there was a problem with the name they were going to use
originally. Couldn't get a clearance for the name George Jetson, that is
where the 'George' came from.
Arthur Lipscomb...

His name is Samuel Francisco. Within the context of the movie he introduces
himself as Samuel then a few moments later Caan realizes his name is Sam
Francisco. Caan's character says he's not going to introduce him as Sam
Francisco and renames him George. Everone else usually calls him
Mr./Detective Francisco.
Beowulfie...
|
Yes, they went with Sam Francisco because the studio that owned the
Jetsons wouldn't let them use it. Check Wikipedia for the details.
